. A simple check list, I like to follow:

Never make any buys in the first 45 minutes of trading, I learnt this from a hedge fund manager.
I make most of my buy sin the last 15 minutes before market close.
I have COMPLETELY stopped listening to CNBC and the Gurus thereof.
Never hold more than 8 stocks or Etfs or Mutal Funds at any give time.
Always have stop losses in place, a simple rule of thumb is to set 7% trailing stop.
Always have an overall idea of where the broader market is. I suggest you read this post for more details.
Don't look for what others are doing. Make a decision and go with it

Market ReView - 26.Feb.2010 NYSE Percent of stocks above the 50 Day MA: 53.5% The volume was luke warm, has been pretty much the same this past week. Money flow has been weak, would like to see more money come in. But I do believe the market internals are getting stronger. I am currently fully invested. But I have been picking up some stocks too. PS:- I will have my watch list for the coming week either on Sun or on Mon before open.
Market View - 01.Mar.2010 NYSE Percent of stocks above the 50 Day MA: 53.5% Buy Aggressively Buy Cautiously Hold Sell Cautiously Sell Aggressively (the highlighted option is my current sentiment) MY ETF Watch List(in that order) for this week*:

EUO
KRE
URE
MVV
MVV
DRN
ECH
XSD
UWM
IHF
XLY
* Compare the list from this week to last( a few posts ago), and if you see an ETF climbing up the ranks it tells us, that it is gaining strength. Good Luck!
