Nonprofits have to meet a list of criteria. Politics has nothing to do with it, and targeting one group is clearly predatory, no matter how you want to spin it. A simple matter obscured by excuses, deflection, etc., etc. One good sign is the public is starting to wakeup to all the bullshit being fed to them. Too bad you are still sleeping, piezoe.
yes... good solid msnbc type conclusion as lois lerner takes the 5th. why didn't her lawyers think of that.
Does anybody? (besides you, of course) I hope you are making the donations when they ask for them and not making us taxpayers foot the bill for you.
Have you been kissing Ricter? I think one of those brain eating worms has worked it's way into your skull. Maybe you should study a little more before you further show us how stupid you are. 501(c) Groups â Nonprofit, tax-exempt groups organized under section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code that can engage in varying amounts of political activity, depending on the type of group. For example, 501(c)(3) groups operate for religious, charitable, scientific or educational purposes. These groups are not supposed to engage in any political activities, though some voter registration activities are permitted. <b>501(c)(4) groups are commonly called "social welfare" organizations</b> that may engage in political activities, as long as these activities do not become their primary purpose. Similar restrictions apply to Section 501(c)(5) labor and agricultural groups, and to Section 501(c)(6) business leagues, chambers of commerce, real estate boards and boards of trade. 527 Group â A tax-exempt group organized under section 527 of the Internal Revenue Code to raise money for political activities including voter mobilization efforts, issue advocacy and the like. Currently, the FEC only requires a 527 group to file regular disclosure reports if it is a political party or political action committee (PAC) that engages in either activities expressly advocating the election or defeat of a federal candidate, or in electioneering communications. Otherwise, it must file either with the government of the state in which it is located or the Internal Revenue Service. Many 527s run by special interest groups raise unlimited "soft money," which they use for voter mobilization and certain types of issue advocacy, but not for efforts that expressly advocate the election or defeat of a federal candidate or amount to electioneering communications. http://www.opensecrets.org/527s/types.php
Many of you will be pleased to hear the sequester is resulting in cutbacks at the IRS. As I recall, you said the sequester was a dem idea, actually Obama's. So, way to go, Obama! ; )
OK, Ya'll have worn me down. For anyone interested in facts. Here: http://www.propublica.org/article/h...lions-on-elections-and-call-it-public-welfare Now I just want to say that both left and right political groups have applied for and gotten 501c(4) status. I will go out on a limb and guess that 100% of the political agencies that have been granted 501(4) status have misrepresented themselves to the IRS, and that most have outright lied. The situation was made much worse by "Citizens United". What a mess for the IRS we have created! Sorry guys, I know this is the kind of unbiased information that public radio exposes you too. As such I know it's going to be painful.
The PBS NewsHour is best news out there bar none. You can hear both sides of the issue without a moderator butting in like they are the ones who are important. They let both sides talk and they do just that talk politely and professionally. And for a world view on the news you can catch the BBC and see what our country looks like from a different viewpoint and learn something about the rest of the world. The discussions remind me of the ones you used to see on The Firing Line. Where do you usually get your news lucrum.
