This is because the belief in gods allays human fear of powerlessness. That is the only purpose of religion, to give people who have, and will never have, control over any aspect of their lives, the illusion of control. This is why people pray before football games, etc. That fact that life is largely random is too much for most people to bear. Stories and myths have to be constructed to explain away death, rape, murder, disease, hunger, war, etc. Trading is much the same way, thousand of pages have been written to explain away that no one really knows which way price is going to move. No one really knows anything, but a lot of people try to convince others and themselves with volume, either of words,of voice, or information.
