Had the Southern States been able to count their slaves as full persons, it would have given the Southern States tremendous power in shaping the nation and continuing slavery well beyond when it was finally abolished. Slavery not counting as citizens has nothing to do with EC, that was the law dem dere plantation owners proudly supported and the North acquiesced to.

Look, man, the electoral college is a vestige of a time gone by but it is still the law of the land and all presidential candidates are elected within it. Trying to rewrite history or espouse some poorly thought out benefits of the EC does no one any good.
