You publicly suggested to another poster that if they were not satisfied with Baron’s response to reported posts, they should seek options “outside ET”, other social media and contacting sponsors to force Baron’s compliance. That’s unacceptable imo. I understand the block/ignore debate, it’s being abused, as well as the differences between the trading threads vs community section/P&R and the need to keep the trading threads on topic and clean. In the P&R there’s a few posters, on both sides, that purposely post the most offensive crap for no other reason than to troll the opposition. Then there’s a few with an axe to grind. As long as posts aren’t breaking the law, and conform the sites code of conduct..... if you don’t like what’s playing on the tube, change the channel but don’t expect the station to get rid of the show just because you don’t like it. Done with the conversation.
The whole blocking thing kind of sucks. I can understand why people would want to block others, but my perspective is skewed by the experience of BBS/forums. My experience says to me that no matter how much you may dislike a person's constant blah blah spam, there may be a thread off in some other section that will cause you to have an aha! moment, were you to be able to see that person's post. That aha! moment can lead to huge monetary gains for yourself. I do not mean through some secret indicator or some such. I mean simply by reading the offending user's idea. Blocking people can cut you off from a valuable resource. You NEVER know where or from whom that golden egg will be laid. In my own experience, I have been blocked by a few folks, and they have removed the blocks since then. Tsing Tao, Dest (who blocked me a couple times and with Poopy as well,) and a few others that I cannot recall at this moment, that I can now speak with. And we get along. I remember the Kcalhoun incident, but that did not get to block stage. That got to the "Let's give ourselves distance and STFU for a while" stage. That worked too. No need for block on that one. I think mickey had me on block at some point...Cannot recall exactly... Mreh. The point here is... I do not think a perma-block is the best idea. A timed-block of 30 days is a great way to give users their own form of "self moderation". Folks, no matter what you think of a person, that person can change in the 30-day period, and you can become best of chat buds! I've seen it happen! Never dismiss anyone out of hand forever! People change!
I'm talking about the threats in some of the hate threads no matter how hard you try to navigate around that issue. As stated...you're welcome to continue the conversation via private message instead of complaining about me calling out people making threats and trying to figure out why they're then linking to those threats / hate messages at other social media sites. All the other offensive crap...its the norm in my opinion in the Political threads. P.S. If you want to continue the talk...send me a private message. wrbtrader
Depends upon whom you ignore / block especially if its someone that rarely post any trading related "aha moments". Lets put it this way, has anyone lead you to huge monetary gains for yourself and you then said to yourself... Glad I didn't follow through in ignoring / blocking that person because I would have missed out on all this money from the person's ideas. wrbtrader
I honestly don't remember having you blocked. I believe you, and probably did. But I purposely go through my list and remove all but the most dedicated trolls every 8-12 months just to see if things are different. People change, as you said. Who knows? I may have had a bad day when I put someone on and its actually my fault. This hopefully addresses that. I'm glad to have removed you. You're a funny dude and I've had some good laughs at some of your posts since. Again, I cannot figure out why I would have blocked you in the first place. As for folks who are abusing the block function, I seriously don't get it. You put people on block to get rid of them. Who gives a red cent what they say after you do, or whether they follow you around? I took Fred off too, and while we've had some tense moments, I've enjoyed our discourse since.
