Todd Harrison is writing again

  1. Heck... if Harrison can have a website then so can I... and a number of other good traders on ET! All I have heard from this guy for weeks is how his bias is SHORT OR he DOESN'T even know what the **** to do! Sorry... he's a nice guy... but damn, I regret my timing in subscribing as he influenced me from accumulating even bigger long positions; albeit he has disclaimers up the wazooo.

Trading Rule #1: listen to only one person... trust only one person... YOURSELF!

Is this guy much different than Cramer... only with nicer manners and more philosophy? And he is a great writer... and one can enjoy his missives a lot if you like good writing; and get a t-short or fleece top as well. But was he really short as much as he said.... or just using the site to accumulate! Naw... I believe him! He was just wrong for a while.

To paraphrase one of his many 'short' gems... "we can't rally unless we first go down more.... we need capitulation " ETC. ETC"!This guy is overly-biased to the short side. Like a broken record. Well we might have some good shorts lining up soon.

In the future I'd rather read a website from marketsurfer and some others (including myself) than pay him to be wrong so much! Haven't read him much in recent days since what's the difference what he says now... the market talks... and bull from talking heads and most of their websites... walks! Hopefully he had finally changed his spots.... before all the horses were out of the barn!

But hey Minyans... he's got his RIGHT HAND UP!

Well we're still in a Bear market... so when Todd is ready to put on his bull suit... big time... we will know to FADE him! Like many I hear do with brother J. Cramer.

Uh, in case you haven't noticed the market HAS been going down for weeks. Too bad you weren't paying attention. Here's an idea, why don't you fade him from now on? Money in the bank, right?

  4. You deserve kudos... good frickin call. Hope you held on to a lot. Damn but these market test our abilities... and our patience.

Like you said... if you relinquish all ego... you get stomped on.. but if you rely too much on it... you get decapitated! A fine balance is required! Hell there's almost more margin for error being a 747 pilot on a Cesna runway... than in trading these markets.

  5. Actually if you sit back for a minute and picture the recent action in your mind's eye... you can "feel" that the market was winding/setting up for this move. The moves down except one were not big ones. They were grinding. And Harrison got fooled.

But I have the highest regard and respect for him having followed him since TSC days. He is a consummate pro. And seems like a great human being. And I recognize that my "blaming" him a little for my initial hesitation... and failing to fully and completely take quicker action on what I posted here on ET (and elsewhere) is a bit of a whine! :p

But I just needed to vent. Ever feel that way?

And like Toddo says we will get them even better next time. And there will be a NEXT time! And ain't that great. And as he also always says ... enjoy life and the people & things that matter most (thanks Todd for that advice... it is valuable and worth repeating!)

And his is one of the 2-3 websites that are still worth a subscription... IMHO! And yes.. I still might order a T or fleece. And yes, there is still some awfully valuable stuff in his missives!

p.s. had been shorting SPX calls for a while... as I posted. Closed most and held SPX puts short back up 'til today. :D

That's why you can't be sure what he's doing. When he wrote for TSC he was more forthcoming with what he was trading.

But was he really short as much as he said.... or just using the site to accumulate! Naw... I believe him! He was just wrong for a while.

He could have been holding (for example)1000 SPX puts and long 100000 SPY,or C,or QQQ's etc. and is more long than short via the deltas.

    And Harrison got fooled.

Or he seems to be the ultimate contrarian without loosening his grip. It has been a powerful lift past few days but pressed the short side. He did the same not long ago.

Interesting how he trades out of losing puts one month for the same dollar amount, but fewer, in another month.

    Good observation M.

  8. How you been, P?

So you follow him also... so far I have yet to see him publish a winning trade... but then he probably's not mentioning all his trading. And so far all the defined risk (puts) he has claimed to have for April... gotta be taking some serious heat. And from my reading of his entry into Februarys (he mentioned 150 lot online) they went to almost -0-. He got one down day to exit and roll into April.

That's why I wonder if what he writes is what he does...

    You in any positions now?

  9. Actually, to me, it seemed that the last 5 weeks the markets did nothing and bottomed at 790 he was making great intraday calls. Slipping appendages in and out intraday and it was pretty accurate as I've been tracking him since the site.

He did miss the rampage off 790 and pressed the 2nd and 3rd big up days, but big deal. So the market rallies 9%. There will be a number of 9% ups and downs this year probably. And the fact that this one happened so quick is even more reason to "overlook" his call.

If he stays 75% or 50% bearish and the market does the 25% rally like last year, then I'll start to wonder what he's thinking.

  10. publicly wrong than this guy!

IF I am not mistaken wasn't he 3/4 into his bear costume this week? After he saw what was unfolding. Duh?! Rally may be irrational but who needs a public website urging cannonballing against the (irrational) war trend.

So ask yourself...... what the hell are the Minyans paying for?! It's one thing to be slightly wrong... but this guy is diametrically wrong.

Sorry I even followed him... haven't read him but once all week.

NOW..... I'm going on record as saying we are getting awfully near to a great shorting opportunity. But will wait for a reversal day/blowoff.

    April will be down.
