Today's Pivots

Discussion in 'Trading' started by waggie945, Jan 29, 2004.

  1. Today's Pivot: 1153.50

    Today's S1: 1148.25

    Calculation:

    S1 = 2 x 1153.50 - 1158.75

    S1 = 1148.25

    Re-check your numbers, Flash!

  3. You must be using a different formula than I. I have 55.75 as the balance point, 53 as S1 and 49.25 as S2. These are auto-plotted for me on TS; sooooo check your numbers Wag! :p

  4. These are the numbers I have too.. maybe off a few cents..

    I get mine from my broker.. they are emailed every morning.. so I don't calculate my own..

    Maybe you have an error in your numbers for today Waggie because in the past yours agreed with mine.

  7. We have been thru this a Gazillion Times!

    The difference in numbers is because I use the High, Low, and Close from the E-Mini which reflects both the Globex and RTH combined session activity, whereas many of you are using the pit traded session S&P contract.

    If you use the pit-traded session contract the Pivot for today would be: 1155.80

    And today's S1 would be: 1152.90

    The pit-traded session's low yesterday was 1152.30, whereas the ES Globex low was 1145.25. This is what accounts for the fact that my S1 is much lower than the one from the pit-traded session.

  8. You find that using the pre-post market data in your calculation is superior to the reg session (9:30-4:15est)???

    Have you ever taken the time to observe both simultaneously? and if so what were your observations?

  9. I am confident in the methodology that I use.

    Don't take my word for it.
    Do your own research, homework, and due-dilligence.
