Love to put you and all CFtters in a circuit of MACHINES no rest b/w just run to next strap in and HIT IT strict form and constant tension you'd throw away thoses boxes and ropes and kettle bells
Crossfit goes beyond plain old resistance training, which has it's place. CF is very good for improving agility and overall coordination. Like anything else, taken to an extreme, and/or done improperly, can and will eventually be counter productive. I've seen guys and gals doing some pretty stupid shit just doing resistance training. You just can't underestimate the human tendency to take a good thing and fuck it up, whatever it is.
"improving agility and overall coordination" at what..tennis?? If you want that muscle bigger, work out that muscle in most effecient way, don't climb a rope, unless you want get good at climbing ropes.

Muscle contracts, creates torque around the joint, then relaxes. Torque around the joint is strength. Many joints acting in concert is SKILL. Barbells & good machines are the best muscle builders, all these other CF activities are just that...activities. Doing O'lifts will not build any significant muscle, only make you more SKILLED at snatching & C&Jerking.
Because agility and coordination are important components to overall fitness. Why does the military run obstacle courses? Why do professional athletes run all kinds of drills? Why don't they just lift weights? Answer, because lifting weights isn't enough. Yes, for the ten thousandth time, some CF'ers have taken a good program and screwed it up, and again, for the ten thousandth time, that can be said of anything.
You are talking about skill again...the military runs obstacles not to build strength but to gain SKILL in maneuvering obstacles they may encounter. Ask yourself why aren't they PRACTICING tennis. Short answer: no tennis courts on the battlefield.
CrossFit Games on CBS right now and on Sunday afternoon another 3 hours. I liked Ninja Warrior last night, the 56 year old making it up to the buzzer. The youngest is 19, he could be his grandson...
