I always enjoyed the competitive nature of crossfit workouts, but there is a tendency among that community to set too high a priority on PR's for how much and how fast. Compete against yourself.
IN competition.......like 1% of people who do crossfit train for these type of compeittions. That is not what we do in the actual gym. Imagine you actually not knowing something firsthand...
SInce no one is holding a gun to anyone's head to do any type of workout this discussion is kind of pointless so @Baron feel free to close this thread. I only discussed because it is one of my workouts I do and am doing on my diet.
Before this gets locked, the studies! "The Research In a recent study published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, researchers surveyed 132 CrossFit athletes. They found that “97 (73.5%) participants had sustained an injury that had prevented them from working, training or competing.” Of these injuries, nine required surgery." https://www.evolvemyfitness.com/blog/2017/8/30/crossfits-injury-rates-revealed
You two don't impress me when it comes to research....I like how you left out this quote: "What may come as a surprise: it matches the injury rate for general fitness workouts." Hmmm..... WOW..... 132 athletes out of hundreds of thousands... I take it you two don't bother reading much...why let facts get in the way.
It is called statistical sample. You really expected the study to be done on thousands? But anyway, if you like it, so be it, good for you, just don't do that silly kipping.
The study says "What may come as a surprise: it matches the injury rate for general fitness workouts." So basically same injury rate as other workouts....you skipped the conclusion. 132 CFers out of 1,000,000 is NOT a reasonable or significant statistical sample (Econometrics 101). If you cannot take an appropriate sample pool the findings lack any significance. Simple statistics. This thread is closed so let's move on.
