I have a post it note on my desk , actually 2 , well a whole bunch. But there are 2 of them about taking profits: 1) I will never never never turn a profit into a loss. the other one tells me what to say and do when I see a nice profit in my account window... 2) ""Ooh that's a nice profit!" then I close at least half of the position. generally when I feel too good about the trade and myself it 's time to start getting out also if more than 1/3 of the profits are given back before I could take some I start getting out.
I feel for ya, that happens to me a lot. I get in watch it make lots of money and turn around for even or loss. I think that is the secret to trading know when to exit. At least that's what it seems like.
yep.. whenever i'm pissed off, lifting weights, going for a run, or some type of exercise usually makes me feel better.
