Toby Crabel Book...

  1. I have read Crabel's book. I don't think it's worth more than 200. Just take a look at the table of contents for ideas. Do your own research.

Not wanting to ruin Breakout's market, but I bought one from Amazon 2nd-hand not two months ago for $120.
Had to wait a while (6-9 months, I think), but just left the bid in there and it was eventually hit.
Now if only I could learn that sort of patience in my trading.......

  4. Heck, if I could afford to pay that much for a book, I probably wouldn't need it !!!

  5. Hey Gordon...I could just say it's worth $500, because that's
what readers are willing to pay, but I'll try to give you a
better answer. (check out "mgkrebs" link)

I think, what has drawn a lot of interest to this book is
the numerous ideas that it contains, and the fact that
the ideas are explained clearly enough, so they can be
backtested again, using more recent data and markets that
have been recently introduced since 1990.

I think there's a huge interest now, with the new
generation of traders that are coming into the market
to do system testing. The popularity of "Wealthlab"
    for example.

If you're the type of trader who likes the "objective" or
"mechanical" approach to trading, you would probably benefit
    from a book like this.

Several of his studies show events occuring over 90%
of the time. He even has one that occurs 100% of the time.

And the book is chocked full of events that occur between 50
    and 70% of the time.

So, if it's so great, why am I selling it? After 17 years in this
business, I've come to the point where I'm happy with
trading breakouts of support and resistance. So, it just sits
on my shelf and collects dust anyway.

They will not reissue it because Crabel will not let them. He trades a 100% mechanical system that is supposidly more or less put to print in this book.

  8. Is this book for/about stocks or commodities/futures?

  9. The book centers on commodity trading but the patterns are applicable to stocks as well.

  10. Hi Long-Way-To-Go...The book focuses on futures:
    Bonds
    Soybeans
    Gold
    S&P
    Cattle
    EuroDollars
    Yen
    Franc
    Crude Oil
    Corn
    D-Mark
    Silver
    Copper
    Wheat
    Bellies
    Live Hogs

I have to agree with DeepHindSight...you could probably
backtest the price patterns on stocks and get some
    interesting results.
