Exactly, there is no secret to losing weght and getting fit. East less, healthier and exercise that's it BUT people do not want to put work in and lack the most basic of discipline in not over-eating. So they spend lsot of money looking for "cheats" and "short cuts." Sound familiar?
Your two posts really interest me. I couldn't ID with what you say. I travelled twice in SEP. A week or so in Hawaii island hopping. then I went to COLO to sit with 27 other traders to learn to program a platform expertly. before that I was trading alone or in an office with friends helping them out. I'm losing weight with all the swimming and site seeing and thinking during training. (I lost four pounds during programming trining). then, sitting here, I looked at my three ring container box. up there in the left corner was a black 1/2" 3- ring labelled "cheat sh". there are 21 other 3-rings full of detailed facts and proofs and logic flow sheets, etc.. I am now so venturous I feel like starting my first thread. the title is not "trouble with the curve" but it is great movie to see. I saw that guy throw the bag of peanuts and I elbowed Liz. I used to pitch. anyway I am absolutely enthraled with doing a thread where I explain the six pages in my cheat sheet 3-ring binder. It is the sum and substance of 54 years of trading. I wish my name was chipmunk. I do not know how I am going to get over it. I would never start a thread. BUT I always give away everything. A dilemma since no one asks good questions anymore. One of my best collegues just made one of the pages by himself. And it takes into account every trade possible in a trend all on one page. It is like he learned the whole sequence for any trend that can happen. Man I have to get off my mind starting a thread in ET. I gotta get a fresh fruit drink to get my mind off it.
if you can not judge by yourself, you will not go far in this game. .........................jessive livemore
People just want to vent especially when they haven't had any success in doing what they invested tremendous amount of time and money in. And it's human nature that we feel better when we see we are not alone and others are going through the same hardship that we are. The rest of us who are making it, we try our best to help and comfort any traders who are having trouble and maybe we are able to learn something about it. And the same time we just keep on doing what we do: trade. After all, it our business venture and our livelihood.
As a person who's lost over 100 lbs. I concur with your weight loss comparison. There's no "secret." Its all common sense and discipline.
The doom and gloom pessimism is disheartening but not unexpected..just like internet reviews, the loudest and most agitated responders are the ones who have had a bad experience with a product or service, not all the people who are satisfied or pleased. Also, the portal to try trading for a living is open to all without any admission standards; which is wonderful and provides anyone with an internet connection and a few hundred dollars great opportunities, but just as with any skilled profession not all people are equipped and able to perform. My "real job" as I am working on my trading skills is a Physical Therapist. 200-300 people applied to get into PT school and 24 were selected, during the program 5 more washed out..so 19 of 200-300 finished and were successful. 10-15% success rate.
