People aren't voting for Trump... they are voting for the government not controlling every aspect of their lives. Trump just happens to represent that atm.

Quit playing the f'ing race card.

If you can't see that, you're not as smart as I give you credit for.

There are millions upon millions of folks out there that are voting for Trump.... and they don't have one f'ing "racist" bone in their body. Again, if you can't see that....

I wasn’t playing the race card. It’s not about government control either. A large part of trump voters are voting for anti abortion legislation (which is a lot of government control). A lot of voters are voting for government mandating Christian dogma in schools. Even if most voters for trump arent racists, trump has promoted racism.

But I was referring to do you think the president can order seal team 6 to assassinate political opponents and do you think a president can force a coup if he doesn’t like the election results?

this idea that republicans don’t want to control your lives is a 40yo myth. It’s been dead since the religious right took hold of the party.

literally yesterday trump said the president should have a say in interest rate policy (a role that’s remained independent from politics for 40 years).

Substantive issues ended when trump could say horrible things and the democrats would be horrified and the republicans would say “he wasn’t serious”

it’s become “I say whatever I want and if you don’t like it, it wasn’t serious” and “I will outright lie about what I said before” and “I am making up policies as I go based on how loud a crowd cheers”

Abortion is a tough call. A lot of folks think its murder. And if they truly believe that in their hearts, they should vote for whoever is against it. Right?

A civilized society needs rules. Laws. That's the governments job, to enforce those laws. If people think abortion is the taking of a human life, they would be remiss in their duties as citizens if they didn't cast their vote accordingly. I don't consider that government control, I consider it democracy.

Ya know one could make the argument you are making, back in 1850. I'm sure there were plenty of people that said it was their right to own a slave, and the government "needs to stay out of our business." They did and we went to war over it, but do you not see my point? Is abortion murder? I don't know. I've never been able to figure that out one way or the other.

the argument I am making is that this election isn’t about race (your claim that I made) and it isn’t about policy (captainobvious’s post).

It’s about our core beliefs as a democracy and as a country.

are we a country that follows the constitution and no man is above the law?
Do we believe in separation of church and state?
    Do we believe in immigration?
Do we believe a fetus is a living thing that supersedes a woman’s heath?

The reason there’s no substantive policy discussion is because we know all the candidates stances on these issues.

The election is also about age and thank Trump for making it about how old people are too senile to run a government.
