I thought the same thing. If he had withdrawn he would have made himself a hero of the game (again) with or without Jack's record.

At the moment if he does not win some more majors... his negatives may overwhelm his positives in the short run and perhaps the long run.

he may be finished because he backed down from a very reasonable opinion. But, lets hope he stays on the air. I do not even think his analysis is that good. He has goofy insights into swings... but at least he had guts.

    Tiger was caught cheating.
That ball rotated... Tiger did not report himself.
Luckily, it was caught on camera and now we know.

Let his team sue Brandel. Chamblee has a 100% winning defense. The truth. A defense to any defamation suit is the truth. Tiger will be told in court of law he was caught cheating.

it was bad enough when tiger was cheating.
then trying to leverage his status against him was bad.
now using his nike buddy rory... to make more remarks.

Tiger needs to be taught a lesson. Unfortunately I would bet tiger is up against establishment republicans.

  5. it won't go that far and if it did the biggest names in golf will be defending him, Tiger.

other than nike guys the biggest players in golf might not be defending Tiger .. but the biggest advertisers will be, behind the scenes.

so Brandels bosses would be expected to sell him out faster than mcconnell and boehner sold out america.

  7. This will be interesting. There was nothing particularly unusual about what Chamblee wrote. I can't imagine Arnold Palmer, who owns the Golf Channel, would feel any differently. However, arnie has a tournament that depends heavily on Tiger's participation, so Chamblee may well find himself in the same situation as Peter Kessler, the first host of Academy Live and the very best on air personality they ever had.

I have never been a big Chamblee fan, but if they can him over this I am through with The Golf Channel.

  8. Chamblee is a bit "wishy-washy" and inconsistent in his analysis, but overall I think that he is a net positive for TGC. IMO, the network jumped the shark when they put Ahmad Rashad on their early morning Morning Drive...what a collosal embarassment that guy was.

  9. No kidding. Probably some idiot consultant told them they needed diversity.
