Tick volume vs. Transaction volume

What's the difference between tick volume and transaction volume? Do some markets only offer one or the other, and some both?

 

tick: price changes per bar
transaction: quantity per time, tick, range etc

I think he is specifically talking about tick volume which is always greater than transaction volume in real time.
