Tick/trin & "the Big 5"

  1. Hi all. I've been reading Velez & Capra's "Tools & Tactics for the Master Day Trader." Among other indicators, they use the TICK & TRIN to gauge bullishness & bearishness, and they also follow the "Big 5" of GE, C, MSFT, AOL, & GM to gauge market sentiment and direction.

So my question for all you successful traders out there is if and to what extent you folks base your trades off the TICK & TRIN, and if you feel those "Big 5" are still the ones to watch or if they are outdated.

If those aren't your leading indicators, please state what are and why.

Thank you and GOOD TRADING! :)

  2. I use the ticks about 90% of the time and the trin 10% at best. There are always times where the market is rising and the trin is rising. This is supposed to happen. It hasn't been a favorite indicator of mine.

There are a few others I prefer to use.
