Yes you have to wear the glasses, and they are $100 each however in a few years you will be able to pick them up at your local grocery store, CVS, Walmart or Walgreens for $9.99 or less all day long.
I am near sighted and I have to wear prescription glasses. I don't think I want to wear another glasses over my prescription glasses to watch 3D tv.
It isn't the TV but the broadcast what counts. HD broadcast has been around in the US since 1998, but the TVs started to sell really well only 5-6 years ago. You can already watch 3D on DVDs with glasses, so why would I buy a new set of TV to do the exact same thing? And who cares to watch the news or The price is right in 3D?
I guess the 3-D w Glasses TV makers didn't learn from Nintendo's VirtualBoy a few years back... If you have never heard of the VirtualBoy, you can guess how financially successful that venture went for Nintendo:
Condolences on your terrible affliction. Those Avatar glasses weren't too bad to wear over regular specs. Don't know if I'd want to wear them for extended periods though
