exactly, the flu doesn't kill anywhere close to 10% of the ppl infected, ricter literally pulled those numbers out of his ass. ebola is super lethal. that's all we need to know to ban travel from the region. The infected nurses or their families (should they die) should sue the shit out of the feds.
It all depends on how many infected people they allow into the U.S. and how effective the government is at containing the disease breakouts within the U.S. - an area at the moment where they are demonstrating complete failure.
the odds are low cause we only know of 2 ppl who have it, they'll increase exponentially if we keep allowing Africans in. It's obviously easy to catch from someone who has it. There's NO fucking reason to allow them into the country.
I asked about today's odds, not tomorrow's. Besides, tomorrow we'll probably have the death rate down. The point of all this is risk perception vs. math. And to begin, as you do, with the conclusion that AGW is a hoax and therefore any calculations done to estimate its impact are bogus, is not math.
I view AGW as a hoax because the previous years of data show that the temperature is not rising globally over land or in the oceans. The modelling performed by groups that have a pro-AGW agenda are bogus, the reality based on raw data & proper math is not. Let's take a look at odds of dying of Ebola in the three African countries with outbreaks, this is the proper "laboratory" for modelling odds of death from infection and driving risk calculation. The first part of risk calculation is that barring people from your country who have been in the three African countries with large outbreaks will greatly reduce the risk of outbreak in your country. Over 50 countries now agree with this approach (with more being added every day), and are barring people who have been in the three African countries within the last 60 days.
According to that idiot Dr. Frieden of the CDC those countries which bar travel from africa are somehow helping the disease spread. Having him in charge is kind of like you're getting ready to go into surgery and you hear your surgeon on the phone asking another doctor to explain again how to do the operation. Just how clueless can a person be and still stay in a job that crucial? I guess we will find out.
the issue is not whether we are in fear of ebola in the US right now... the issue is why not close down down air traffic from ebola regions and quarantine anyone showing up from there? Its just fricken decent public health policy. now they central american countries aer being smart and closing their borders to ebola regions... It will be pretty fricken sad when mexico has to close its borders to americans.
