Thought for the day............

Discussion in 'Chit Chat' started by acronym, Apr 12, 2007.

  1. Which bit, the apple pie recipe, stoney's rants, or general commentary?

We need to improve customer service here at TFTD channel, most input is appreciated.
Not all, but most-slice of life consumerism is as welcome as the illustrious don brights voltaire quotes, if you have a thought, during the day, that you feel may benifit the common good, then here you are.

And, given the transitory nature of the medium, there you were.

  3. Heh, you were probably talking about Le Tour, i realise now-i didn't know Cadel Evans had come a monster cropper when i posted, he looked like he went three rounds with a grizzly after that stack.

Not sure how i missed it, but staying up till 1am watching sport for a week straight, i guess i drift in and out.

    :)

  4. Another huge stack on le tour, its not often you see a bicycle snap in half after a crash though, that's impressive. Rider seemed not to-bad, considering, hope he can continue.

I guess, these things are made of carbon fibre, aluminium/magnesium alloys for weight reduction these days-it was quite evident, the steel road sign fared much better in comparison.

  5. I TRIED THE PIE! IT'S GREAT EXCEPT THE APPLES AREN'T TASTY YET AREN'T THEY WINTER FRUIT? AH BUT NOT TO EVE SHE JUST PICKED AND ATE IT IN THE SUMMER I THINK- SHE WAS NAKED MUST HAVE BEEN SUMMER SHE WOULD OF HAD HER FUR FIG LEAF ON IF IT WERE WINTER I'M SURE. THAT PIE I PUT MAGIC MUSHROOMS IN IT AC, SORRY THEY MIGHT BE WHY THE TASTE WAS A LITTLE OFF BUT THE TRIP BACK TO THE FRIDGE WAS A LONG AND WINDY ONE.

A SHORTNESS OF BREATH. That's the first twinge or feeling you get it's been so long for me I had forgotten. After that it's fun to play with frogs.

My thought for the day concerns WII no not world war 2 WI the Nintendo game I'm not sure how you spell it. My wife gave it to me for fathers day and we hooked it up to THE KURO which if you don't know is a great big plasma tv from Pioneer. AC, if you can get the soon to be discontinued 42 inch grab it! The Plasma is a more richer feel than LCD I grabbed one of those too for my bedroom (this is what happens when you get a country house 2 of everything that then goes unused for a week while your central air gets fixed for the fifth time.... ) Anyway this game from Nintendo I was a doubter. Those fools I thought standing on their balance boards doing squats or whatever.... the interface the software is legendary whoever I assume the Oriental guy is who dreamed up these games they work very well and for someone afraid of technology like me even I who cannot play one game on Sony Playstation can have some fun with the WI. I like Bowling so much and Golf. The tennis is harder and the baseball harder still. I've ordered a racing game that comes with a little steering wheel.... It's a stoner's paradise this game... A word of warning though Guitar Hero really sucks it's a follow the finger lights game not a real Pete Townsend follow along I smashed my friend's guitar into a zillion pieces when I was done and not only did my little cartoon representation of me not play along and duplicate my actions ... my friend who brought said guitar plug in was mighty pissed.

So WII really is great even after all you have heard. Ditto the Kuro big tv and Dexter, what can I say Ac, I'm so glad you can watch it. I think from what I know of you-- you and Dex are similar in many ways..... In season two a British chick comes on as a Alcohol stopping assist to Dexter. She had really nice small breasts and nipples and I'm not sure that will maker it over the air there... then again you are in Australia somewhere & they allow a little bosom on the telly now and then....

Speak to you soon.... I might follow up with a fudge bar recipe of some kind or a tea....
    stay tuned~ stoney

  6. Your a weird guy, stoney.
I mean that in a nice way, of course.

Yeah, apples are a winter thing-but it IS winter here, but seriously, anything that isn't from safeway will do the trick.
Magic mushrooms likely wouldn't effect the taste too much, their quite benign in flavour , just the odd green-(almost fluoro green) copper rust appearance in the "juis" appearance when cooked up could, and should be disconcerting.

The absurd garden of eden was perfect, so no summer or winter, so that falls a little flat in theological terms, (how would apples grow without seasons?:) which is just preposterous to begin with.

Dexter, well-i dont know how you came to that conclusion, god knows i tried to "clean up" the world, only to fail terribly in more ways than one.
But, that's what happens, when you bite off more than you can chew, and don't truly understand the sheer evil of your opponents.

It is a great show , i personally have no interest in seeing the uncut version, the crime genre generally leaves me cold, but this is different.
Micheal C. Hall is brilliant...free to air is kinda good, as previously noted.

Would you beleive, its on at 9.50ish pm, on a sunday night, the same timeslot they run a lot of quasi religious shows.

Who are they kidding? It was "controversial", a couple of years ago maybe. How is dexter, worse than endless repeats of the stations of the cross, or footage of filipino flagellants?

The good cardinal Ratzinger is in oz right now, dispensing holy goodness everywhere for world youth day, or week, or whatever it is.

Good on him. If anyone can control a throng of madmen, it had better be their sect leader.

    God bless, cardinal Rat-Zinger.

  7. Following the recent incredible lack of success in getting idea's on a digicam, i figure i might as well post here.
    Just for a change................

It has occurred to me, i'm just being pedantic about it, decision wise, so i figure ill just do what i normally do, snap up the best available deal, on whatever might suit and worry about it later.

But, having spent some time examining variables in the alleged "performance" digicam market, well, here's some thoughts-without actually owning one, yet.

Canon-S5-i would probably like it, but to many gismos and buttons, an slr is only $150 +or so more, not quite compact enough.

Lumix fZ18-what i have settled on so far, whole bunch of stuff i probably don't need, but a hefty chunk less than the S-5, and dropping rapidly in price, and appears to be pretty cool.

Lumix-FZ8, good value now, and again, maybe more crap than i really need, even a full year after release.(lol, like it had to be 'released', its just a friggin camera)

Ricoh R8-a contender, without a stupid lens caps flappin around, but vastly overpriced for its features, vs lumixFZ-18. Stoopid up-high viewfinder though.

Nikon P80-sounds good, but slowness could irritate me, overpriced for specs.

Olympus SW , 890 or 1030, there's a lot to like about the rugged feature, let alone being potentially weatherproof, (or for that matter, waterproof to x metres depth) but nothing suggests they can actually take good pics, really.

    But, same with all digicams.

Like various "toughbook" laptop specs, nothing remarkable internally, just a premium for being tough and bulletproof.

And thats a good thing, read about some guy who spilled orange juice over a few month old mega dicicam, stuffed it. Ouch. Orange juice?

  8. If you honestly lose a bill do you still owe the money? There is ice on mars and other tales of the end of the world.

There I was mid week catching a 2:00 showing of WallE and as I bought the tickets the old grandmother manning the booth waved her hand and said something about there being a problem with the picture.

" go check if you want and come back if you want it. "

We walked past no one and in the art deco theater and decended into the bounds of stickiness where they have spliced and diced several theaters into one. There in a room, a projector was spinning and NO ONE WAS THERE! NO ONE AT ALL. The sound might of been not 360 but what a weird experience, all that theater for three people. I thought about not paying and just sitting there but then I though about that dear old lady all confused by the computer and the voice in her ear telling here to get rid of us I'm sure so they wouldn't have to run the projector... there alone in the bowls on NYC it felt like the end of the world. A depression. Where are the people? How will the theater stay in business. Is film dead. 2:00 pm on a Tuesday do they have to start canceling shows like airlines? Will we all soon be told when and where we can go everywhere? Will these movie theaters be looked at as some relic from the past in the very near future. Will there power and heating and air conditioning bills overwhelm their ability to serve us a simple movie? Will the people stop coming? The love of going to the movie theater, is it gone? There was an article in the New yorker about the end of lawns in America and we all know about our love affair with the car- it ended. Folks no longer speak to their vehicles as I do in hushed female tones. It's all very sad.

I have a big bill to pay for lawncare but I lost it.
Do I really still have the bill or not?

Are UFO's real or not? these are all questions that must be answered. It's almost time for me to grow a plant or two just for medical reasons can I turn marijuana into a bio fuel? The money is running out a bit and yet there is an August to be had on the beach.

I have a Andy Warhol picture, a dollar sign I think I'm going to try and sell it at auction. ~ stoney

  9. Well, i wouldn't want to owe money to Big Bill, for anything, i can tell you, i recommend not losing your temper in his presence, i guess it depends on his patience as to whether he will continue to mow your lawns.

Didn't know he was doing gardening though, must be a moonlighting thing..........

    Of course UFO's are real.
    There are pictures.

Marijuana into bio-fuel? Probably, but how about building instead!

You have an "actual" warhol? Original? I always wondered, how the heck would you know, there mostly prints anyway.
I don't get, how a print, of a thing, (all prints are, thats the point) from an artist who didnt believe in art could be worth that much. But, they are.

Hard to say, is the cult of warhol/pop art fading, or will it resurrect stronger in a few years time?
Tough call, my vote is hang onto it-until the next upswing economically.

You dont want to find, nobody remembers warhol, and wouldnt buy it for outrageous prices regardless a decade down the track, despite god knows how much you could, maybe, get for it then. In theory.
Just dont put it on ebay.

My advice? Send it to me for safekeeping:D

  10. Oh my god it's happening. It's actually happening I'm so scared. I got in touch with an auction house the last one went for $32,000 holy smokes easy stoney easy that one was in great condition yours has a big stain ON THE BACK not the front but over the Warhol signature. Yea Ac I got a freakin' real one I worked at the studio for a bun ch of years and never got squat but a small paycheck and a great time. I became great friends with the vid director there and then I paid to get him into Alcohol treatment and he gave me the pic which is inscribed to him. I really don't know how any of this works and it has to be authenticated by the foundation I know it's real and I know it's mine but proof is in the eye of the beholder.... what's that about possession being 9/10's ?????? Oh man. I'm going with a $15 to TWENTY GRAND estimate and just really hoping the art market holds up until December.... OH please!!!! This would take care of my whole kitchen in one swoop and I might get a coffee table out of it and a weekend in Puerto Plata. All from a dusty envelope under my bed.... fingers crossed.... ~stoney
