Thought for the day............

  1. My thought is for all stock traders!
" Plant your seed or sapling or small growth into thy soil. You have the dirty poo dirt up your fingernail for the whole week. Sniff it as you trade. Deep. There it is- Da shit. The good kind the real kind, the kind with worms and spiders and things that make you go I'm glad I'm NOT at the disco. Although I think about it so much in the warm weather after a few drinks... Don't do what I do please. I'm on that edge of falling off into summer debachory when I increase everything to very high levels... this has been a pattern for many years, I'm starting to fear growing old and dying there I said it. Well another thing get yourself a lucky pendent! You have to get it from a wise Chinese master of Martial Arts and that aint' easy especially for someone like me who they won't train. It's weird man, it's a temple, a religion like experience and I've heard through the grapevine the reason why they just keep on killing me with the heavy workouts and don't teach me any of the death moves is because I failed my interview. It's not so much an interview but the wise master sees into your soul... and here is where you wall streeters ought to quake a little bit... those late nights out, those dirty dirty nights out,,, the hep C the Coke and the panties everywhere the Bumps on the legs the crabs, the horrors of which I do not know... but what is about the summer months that sets me off so... I've got that number man... but I don't know I'm getting old this is a fools game... how many times can I beg my wife to tell me a sexy story from our past.... it's so pathetic.... poor girl... what is they say give a guy one threesome and he's forever yours and making you talk about it... anyway heads high lads WE CAN DO THIS! TRADERS ARE PEOPLE TOO. THE STREET IS SHRINKING; THE JOBS ARE LEAVING; THE MORAL IS LOW.... CHIN UP EVERYONE STONEY is still here getting the job done. So get that lucky pendant if you can but don't over use it and get a Mantra written for you in the bag and recharge as necessary as I did three days ago before this latest week of pure brilliance. To you. the man who stays at home. The man who does the laundry (all 50 pounds of it) the man that makes the bed (me again) to you--- you do a lot and no one appreciates it. you earn the dough, you pay the taxes, you drive everyone around... yet sometimes that is not enough.. that's why shopping days were invented and today I had a nice one. New receiver you know they don't call them receivers anymore the Jewish sales guy on 14th street looked at me like i was crazy back when I mixed I went right through AUX on a receiver and now they want to pre amp you up the ass, anyway I bought an amp and a pair of running shoes and my wife a leather pillow and a small purse and in all I've done what little I Can for these poor merchants i feel so sorry for as my wife buys away on the net...
I want very badly to talk stone temple pilots with you all (it's not looking good) but the back of this chair fell out sentences ago and I'm cramping up... Thursday would be the day, I've got to get my impulses under contoll... for the positive flow to continue. More music louder but what.... ? I'm going to start mixing loudly in Ct I've got the most serious House music collection you could imagine (yup I'm that old) and lots of Euro stuff stay tuned for a big ET invite night... Mushroom related if you can get to Ct... I've got a shot at Nutmeg and a few others but getting Ac out of his protective silo and past the sharks at the reef and over the spider patch to US will not be easy.
    Peace. ~stoney

  3. Where did all those stars come from?

Reflecting on gear, i had a chance to use my garmont syncro's the other day, their actually quite good. Very good.
Traversing a steep slope of moss, wet rocks and grass, with a bit of mud and frost thrown in, i felt so sure footed it was ridiculous.

Strange how gravity affects psychology though.
Going up, the certainty of the next step is unsure, largely because if you slipped or fell, it would likely be backwards, headfirst down the slope.

Down the hill, and all of a sudden (in boots like these) steps become certain, authoritative-the ankle support locks your grip to the hillside, and suddenly, no fear of failure, no vertigo-because if you slipped and fell, it would be onto your butt, and you can see clearly where your likely to slide to.
Not talking k2 here, either, just a hill.
With thorns and rocks though , no wimpy stuff .

Next, if i end up in the rain, is to test my new Mont raincoat, and should it chill up, my new wilderness wear ( great aussie company) pure woollen heavyweight jumper.....It hasn't been effing cold enough to really try my gear, but im sure that will change.
Maybe if i went outside occasionally, i could use some of this stuff..... an item is just an item, an eventually disposable, lose-able, replaceable consumer good.

I haven't even worn my best-jacket -in-the-universe yet, a woollen swandrii , (great NZ company) so rare they don't even make them anymore, wool , lined , hooded, nylon denier on the shoulders and tailcoat, its a masterpiece i think.
It would be a shame to wear it, and get it dirty really.

    I love having great gear.
I know these items will last forever, in my terms at least, and i find comfort in that.
Sure, standing in the cold a few metres from climate control reverse cycle isn't exactly the ultimate test of man or gear, but im still trying to break away from the allure of the track suit, those things are way comfy, so gimme a break here.

Oh, i still haven't died the carharrt trousers, i keep thinking, maybe they would look really good tie-died.

Sort of a mocha/coffee colour, tie-died carhartt work pants? Yes, no? Will canvas cotton even die well?
I report, you decide. Gearheads unite, boo-yah.

I have another theory. Big difference pondering thoughts high on a hill as opposed to sitting on a log in a valley surrounded by mountains. Looking down the world is yours, sitting in a valley, no matter how peacefull for me I find myself contained and challenged.

Perhaps, one is more cautious climbing up because it is like life, where as going down we've been there (even if we really haven't) it is a sense that downhill is easy, we are more confident.

You could be right and I'll add that theory to mine.

  5. Wonders will never cease-just watched the first episode of Dexter on free to air.I can see why people rave about it. Its original, surprisingly engaging, and actually funny, despite the bizarre premise.

Its not often a show can be carried by the narrative of the main character, but this psycho nutcase does the job-even the first episode had a huge hook ending, i pretty much have to watch it now.

  6. I was going to make apple pie today.

    Maybe i will, maybe i wont, but either way, this is my basic recipe;

Take a stack of apples, peel, (or not) core, dice into roughly inch and a half long by a centimetre thick segments (hehe, stuff universal measurements) and in an electric frypan, broil very slowly in a few milliletres or less of water, just enough to cover the base of the pan, or you may have to drain them later.
Actually, its a good idea to drain them a bit before adding thickener/sweetener anyway (sugar etc)

    Gotta keep moisture down.
Add a bit of raw sugar when the apples are still crunchy on the inside , to try and thicken up the mix a bit, and add a few dollops of golden syrup, cloves if you like cloves, and maybe a half teaspoon of cinnamon,
and try to let the mix steam off (reduce) a little, without overcooking the apples to a mush.

Cool mix in the fridge for long enough to cool right down, dont ever use hot mix on frozen/thawed instant puff pastry. When done.......

Wrap in pastry, i prefer a foldover for convenience, and bake at the ubiquitous 180 degrees until crust is crispy.

Serve with outrageous amounts of cream, and if it isn't sweet enough (organic apples are used in this recipe) add maple syrup or whatever.

Next up , on TFTD channel, a bunch of indignant self righteous americans, proclaiming my apple pie recipe isn't authentic, nor tasty, blast my apple pie making recipe, in a fury of low class indignance, despite their likely never having made an apple pie of any variety, in their entire lives.

  7. Wot, nobody tried the apple pie recipe yet?
    Its good, i tells ya.

Le Tour has started, im sure glad i got my 60cm tv-europe looks beautiful on a huge telly.
To bad its a crt though, it weighs just over a kilo per (linear, not square) cm of screen real estate, which is a little excessive really.
But, im still unconvinced of the lifespan of these mod-con plasmas and lcd's........there is some irony in crt technology finally being virtually perfected, in lifespan, quality, image clarity, you name it, and all of a sudden its replaced by a virtually unproven new technology, just because its lighter and more compact.

  8. Le tour hasn't dissapointed, so far-beautiful scenery, the dulcet tones of phil liggett's commentary, so far like red wine with duck breast and fois gras on a bed of fresh cress, sauteed shallots, asparagus shoots and truffle infused field mushrooms, perhaps with a side serve of authentic sauerkraut, just to denote the seeming lack of truly "name" riders this year.

Still good, just not what you may have expected.
