Thought for the day............

  1. Nut I hear you I must say I am a hypochondriac in a way in my mind I've already come down with every disease from Crones to Cancer so there is little negativity that can shock me If I decide not to let it..... And I've never gotten a flat tire-- knocking on wood as I write this-- because I drive an old car but If I did such panic would set in. I have no idea if my car came with a jack I bought it off Ebay and it's so rusted and smoking underneath if I got it off the ground the jack would probably slip sending the metal part upwards into my 4 year old seat and the rest of the car down on my arm. I do have AA I mean AAA so I could give them a call or GEICO has some service, that's pretty pathetic I know ,but I may have to call the Navy Seals in if I blew one out. The day would be against me, the world against me, I should of taken a different road, etc. and I would be raging about my luck. I'm doing that anyway after a series of f ups in the market. One mistake led to another which caused me to chase one that fell back and then the other one I sold took off and then I'm selling infrastructure stocks and then I'm getting back in only to sell again... it's a strange rotation of crops going on in my head now.. but when you start having some names hurt you because they keep going up after you sell them (MELI) well at least you know you are in a healthy market.... but are we? I fought with my wife all last weekend and all this week. That usually happens when markets are about to turn over... either that or it's her low iron count.... My lucky Jade pendent has stopped working because I relied on it too much during earnings time and praying for money is never a good thing.

My con ed bill now comes without a return envelope.

I got sushi the other night and they had cut way back on the rice. Little tiny round balls, more fish than ever though... I'm going to order Chinese tonight and ask for extra rice and see what they say. Myanmar seems like it could set off a cascade of food price increase events around the globe. Hearing that we were one inch away from a total financial meltdown recently had the fed not stepped in is not making for stable ground for big investing thinking.

To make matters worse my old favorite AMSC blew out their number and is up $3. I gave up on that one too. Must Stick With Your Convictions, I guess that is my thought of the day And Listen To Streams, there's a lot of peace and knowledge there... or in my case a Brook. Peace.~stoney

  3. Ac I dunno. I've never been into these lads they hang around downtown and generally get in the way at bars. A lot of youngin's dress like them so it gets confusing... did I just spit on the foot of a New Romantic? A stroke? Or just a drunk kid....

JAMES was a band no one knows. From the 80's I doubt they are on UTube but I'll check. They were seriously good. There's a band playing Madison Square Garden that looks interesting, my chemical romance from Nj, but I have never heard them play. For my money the KILLERS are the best period. They write the best hooks and they play fierce guitar the lead singer is very very good. JACK BLACK has loads of talent, sometimes his guitar speaks to me sometimes it doesn't. Right now I'm 100% into Gnarles Barkley... there's nothing I like more than rolling into that small Ct town with my sunroof open and my big ass Rhodie sticking his ears in the wind with the stereo absolutely cranking Gnarles.... people just don't know what to do. Another dude DAVID GRAY I just bought his greatest hits. Good pipes. Worth the buy. last year it was Amy Whinehouse all the time but after such public lewdness I'm left wondering if that just isn't a really good backup band. Evidently the same band plays here in the city with an older chick. MAROON 5 really gets the suck ass award, talk about selling out and crashing badly all in one follow up record. That lead singer is hateful. Maybe it's because my kid's favorite song is " Mr Blue Sky " but Ac, Nut and the 900,000 others reading this... do yourselves a big favor and put some greatest hits ELO on... talk about driving music, very overlooked band. I consider myself lucky that I saw both REM and the SMITHS in their prime, Stipe with long hair and blissed out Peter Frampton look and Morrisey being one of the most quintessential lead singers ever. ~stoney

  4. Well, i live in the outback, where no sound is heard.

Literally, my computer has no sound at all.
    Caw...caw....chiiiirp.......chiiiiiiirp.....

Wait, jack black is/was the lead singer of the pixies, no?
Yeah, im a little behind the times here, but no, i cant claim to have heard of gnarles barkley or anything trendy.

I saw micheal hutchence break his ankle in a poor stage manouver, (great gig, he didnt miss a beat) and pearl jam with dave grohl on drums, but no, live music/concerts just arent my thing......the electric light orchestra had some great driving tracks, sure.

But for driving music, and depression, tough to beat the stone temple pilots.

  5. The thought of the day is AIR RIGHTS and why don't I have em? It's a big city thing, you can own all the air you want in the suburbs or the outback but here in the city it's $. Today I found out that the gypsy who stares at me through the driving rain has a secret; the one that beckons from her tarot card perch on third avenue and 21st street... with the neon lights illuminate her so, the one that seems to want to get to know your family in a scary way, or at least I imagine it that way if I ever went in. Sister how I pittied you so- all day every day sitting there beckoning and no one has ever gone in in six years. Always empty, yet she resides in a five story brownstone that all up the side in banners talks about her gypsy ways. Strange how can she afford this place.?.. Russian mob? I always wandered... well today her name came in conversation at the pasta shop up as a building near hers is being demolished. The fortune teller she's still there I commented: oh she's there, the pasta guy told me- and she sold HER AIR RIGHTS FOR TWO MILLION DOLLARS!!!!
That's right my mystic lay around las who just sits there every day behind that crystal ball in the window... she has sold her air rights and a new building is going to build right over her. I'm sure other folks have done this but I immediately want to form a corp and buy up beat up brownstones in areas that are upcoming and need highrises- just to sell the air rights. As it stands now I'm in this kitchen and the ceiling is above and above that is the fifth floor, I just don't see where the money making opportunity is there.... ~ stoney

  6. Fascinating subject, Air rights. I couldn't believe it when I first read about them. I think Trump world tower (near the UN) was able to be built so tall because Trump assembled a package of air rights from different buildings and satisfy zoning.

On a side note re World Tower, it is within restricted flight path, great selling feature, it is as safe as the White House because of its proximity to the UN.

  7. Shoot, he shoulda stayed married to Ivanka, her head must have vast air rights.

Um, given anyone attacking the white house/un/pentagon by air would not observe a restricted flight zone, and that they are huge political targets potentially, how is that such a great feature?
Sure, sounds good in theory, i'm just saying.

  8. Suppose you bought a candy bar and it cost one dollar. What would you say if it costs one dollar to throw away the wrapper after you finished eating it?

Roughly speaking, why should it cost as much money to throw away an old roof as it does to install a new roof? Doesn't make much sense? How can we bring a sane balance of costs. old vs new?

Raise the price of the new roof installation so we can rationalize the benefits of modern landfill processes.

Modern landfill practice is burying debris vs the archaic method of burying it without EPA guidelines.

Now it is not easy raising the price of shingles and installation for no good reason. The govt will "assist" with bringing cause and effect back into line by creating oil price increases. Product price increases, labor will cost more but the costs of disposal should remain the same or increase only slightly. Once this balance is acheived oil should flatten out.

This analogy should apply across the entire economy.

Suppose a guy found a piece of scrap metal on the side of the road, 5 years ago it was worth a dime, today it is worth a dollar. Why should the junk man reap an obscene profit?

The gov't cannot lower the roof disposal costs any more than stop the junk man from cashing in on his personal scrap yard bonanza but the gov't can apply the brakes to profits by raising the price of oil.

Consolidate all manner of control to one product -oil.

  9. BC = before Christ, this could offend 2/3 rds of the population who do not believe in Christ hence it will become BCE "before common era", yet the days of the week and months of the year are pagan, should we change those terms for the months and days as to not offend those 95% of the population who are not pagans?

The consistent answer should be yes, yet the arguent not to is the fact most people don't know these are pagan words. Hence, shall we keep the stupid stupid or elighten them so we can achieve uniformity in politcal correctness?
