Thought for the day............

Discussion in 'Chit Chat' started by acronym, Apr 12, 2007.

  1. "Definitive"

    This word has popped up in my mind, on the numerous occasions ive delved out of my depth on some threads here......one, a thread in italian, about someone with english worse than dubya, trying to do something with cycles and channel analysis;
    The other, every explanation of SCT ive seen-i understood the italian better.
    And, obviously, the entire options forum:

    Perhaps its the case, with things that are in theory and practise, infinitely variable, no particular "definitive" statements could ever be made, yet it hasnt stopped the latest crop of opinionated, half witted trolls bumping every thread with their extraordinarily bad , "definitive" advice.

  2. "And, obviously, the entire options forum:"

    Ditto. Nutmeg to the rescue with a "definitive" on options. One week a month (options expiry week) the option traders gang bang the market. Some say Monday is the lead off (forecast) day, I've looked but frankly don't care if it is or not.

    Friday is pay day. Stocks fall into their neat little slots called the strike price.

    The following Monday, the janitors come in an sweep up, so Tues the playground is open for the rest of us.

    Don't believe me? Print up a watch list on expiration Friday and look at how boring the closing prices are.

  3. Oh, i beleive you, and its not that i cant fathom or understand the basics of some of these things......its just that such factors, or topics breach my incredulity threshold.
    When i can no longer maintain "suspension of disbeleif", the lights go out, rather like hitting the off button on a ben affleck movie, 2 minutes after it started.

    Options, sct, and all these
    "you cant make money doing 'this' or 'that', you need an edge, im going to act like i have one, not going to even allude to what it might be, nor am i going to prove it, but your doomed if you dont have one, because im great and your all losers"

    f*ing trolls, are rather like a ben affleck movie.
    Bad in every respect, soulless, lacking flair, creativity, emotional depth and poorly written to boot, and there is literally nothing constructive, rather like their posts, one could say about them.

  4. That is the hazards of going everywhere ( in the sense of exploring the markets) and reading everything. The observations become part of the knowledge base. Imo, it has its relevance. My bs detector is warp speed.

  5. The starship enterprise does your bs detection?
    Can i get a subscription or something, because that would be really cool.

    hmm....would trading be easier with Captain Kirk as a mentor.......i mean , people rabbit on about the supposed benifits of spock's logical process, but what about kirk?

  6. Widgets.

    Who the hell needs a widget.
    Leopard, supposedly , is set for release in october......due to the "iphone " taking up resources.

    Any student of business, knows, intuitively, that's total bollocks, the iphone was a stalling tactic, due to massive flaws in the new os, which only time can help.

    I only mention it, due to this mob being the subject of much conjecture in the stock boards, and im yet to figure out why their popular at all-the imacs are limited to the life of the screen, their laptop range, while presumably functional, dont exactly break any value for money records.

    What are people expecting of Leopard?

    In the software forum, discussion of new macs, yet no mention of Leopard , SUPPOSEDLY due in october.

    I costed a new mac pro, FULLY optioned, to come in at $27,000 AU, thats a lot ...um, money.

    Thats not my style, that is an absurd computer, (anyone going for that, by the way? not worth a thread in hardware if i start it, when i dont even know what my pc is capable of) as it happens a mini mac with the full options would suit me fine.

    It's said, mac enthusiasts are driven by brand loyalty, not common sense.

    I have neither, im driven by the fact i cannot use even the most basic windows programs (effectively, in their intended purpose), the fact im compelled to constantly run spyware checks, and......lets not forget ads...most importantly, the fucking screeching hard drive/cooling fans, which NEVER stop, EVER.

    This Black Tower has served me well over time, and so it should have, it was excessive in capability for its intended use even then , 5 odd years ago, when new , it inspired confidence with its jet engine sound;
    It SOUNDED like it was doing something, like YOU were doing something, a real machine, with purpose , and vigour!!
    An electronic dynamo, full of possibilities, full of practical uses, full of hope!!!!

    A machine, that would-um, let you surf the net, type word docs, maybe attempt to crack the code of the mysterious excel.

    And failing those endeavors, surf porn and use email, basically.

    Im not convinced its actually that much louder now, its just a crunchier sound, i would love to put a decibel meter on this POS.

    Open letter, to steve ......jobs

    That, is why i want a minimac, now, despite the somewhat ridiculous price;
    industry speak says the minimac may be discontinued........if so, Apple truly are the worst company in the world, and to simply stick customers with the minimal performance of similiar, or lesser pc's, with that monstrous margin just isnt on, certainly in the imac range, with limited shelf life of the screen.

    WIDGETS WONT do it, Mr. steve jobs.

    I WANT a SILENT pc, without peripherals, for a nice price; that just happens to be smaller than a lunchbox.

    That can run windows , no probs, god forbid it might be necessary......the current mini is "nice" , strangely enough , the full optioned mini is a rough equal to the 5 yr old screeching tower of noise sitting right here.

    "Its the noise, Mr Jobs, the smell of it, it infects everything, the taste of it, I cant stand it , Mr jobs."

  7. Squeaky chairs.

  8. Maybe its not the chair, maybe it's your back. You should have it checked out.

  9. Hmm, you might be onto something there -the toilet seat squeak's like nothing else as well:confused: , too much of a coincidence maybe?

  10. Just read a more or less interesting book, entitled"animal, vegeatable, miracle", by barbara kingsolver.

    A pedestrian read, in most aspects, but containing some gems amongst the, i hope, deliberate family orientated whimsy.

    At the crux of the matter though, important stuff, seemingly irrelavent stuff to most, but sooner or later you wont be able to ignore it. For the last 300 years, commercial interests have tried to destroy the backyard garden, it may surprise many how well they succeeded, without even knowing what they gave up.
