  1. I'm grinding away at my irrigation business. (Plumbing) and I like how peter says... I'm responsible for this message..... outright calling a socialist a socialist... Romney has expierence running a book of business .. Obama was a sensation of pop culture and a second coming of Christ for black people... little do they know the blacks are exploited the most by their own politicians! Jesse Jackson... the great rev. Al Sharp ton.... that guy would sell you up the river for cheap and be proud of it

  2. well I hear ya, his advertisement is quite refreshing. Here is who I am, where I came from and who I am voting for. But that may just be because I kind of agree with it.

What really set me off is this numbskull who started this thread and took a news release from ib totally out of context to try to counter act Peterflys ad. And for no other reason than he is a democrat hack who just like all of them, couldn't care less about the truth, as long as they get their way, and that is why the democratic party should lock him up in prison for the rest of his life because his one post did more harm than all the good the millions they have spent trying to convince me private equity is bad.

other than that, everything is fine

  3. Villianizing making money is the worst part of the democractiv argument...... its sick... it goes right at the heart of how Americans got this far... if you prop up big business and have the gov as the biggest business in the market a super cycle downturn will ruin the US... the big guys have to watch their backs in the real game. Otherwise a good shot from a small guy could cause him to lose his edge... its the source of innovation..... this money printing machine is stiffling value creation...

  4. yeah, you and me both, puts us in a sticky situation, because we know both sides are wrong

you make a good point, they are against big business unless that big business is their government

I guess I need to go back and read my Roman history to see how this will all work out

funny thing is, very few talk about the Chinese. They have been at this a lot longer than we have, and Lord knows they went through one hell of a communist revolution.

I agree. Every other advert on Bloomberg over here is bought by IB, makes me think how much is IB actually wasting money on that and not improving its products.

This Peterffy ad just comes off as unprofessional, this might be telling us that IB will be going downhill from here.

I can't rid myself of the feeling that IB is the next Titanic in the making.

And the posters who are worshipping IB at the shrine of ET's 'Latest Broker Ratings' are either shills or the same sort of people who you see gushing all over politicians just prior to an election thinking that these men are gods sent to save us and who only look out for our best interests.

  7. I'm not so sure it's a bad thing. I might think differently if he said his goal in starting ib was to make America more like the Soviet Union.

I forget his name, Tom Mognihan or something like that, who was the CEO of Dominoes Pizza, and due to the fact that he grew up in a catholic orphanage knew that today he could very easily have been aborted, and donated and spoke out for the pro life movement, took a big hit in his business, to the point where many young girls would just simply not eat one of his pizzas.

Seems to be a little more common sense on the other side.

If you are talented at what you do, and you speak out for a political cause I don't happen to agree with, I will not boycott you, because I still appreciate your talent.

But I don't think being successful should silence you.

Doesn't make much sense to say if you are small like me, you can say what you think, but if you get successful then you must suddenly start worring about, "What people will think" especially since you probably got succesful by ignoring what other people think.

You're either for free speech or against it.

And if you are against it, I really don't want to have anything more to do with you.

Peterffy said he doesn't expect to lose business from this.

The outcome he entertains is more putinesque.

“There will be people who will not like it counterbalanced by people who will,” he said in the email. “As long as I do not get knocked off or have a regulatory crusade against me I’ll be fine.”

  9. well I don't know of any true trader who is going to change his tactics based on what the owner of the firm he clears through believes about politics, religion or women or whatever.

that's a good dinner table conversation (if you are goyam, we like to eat) but certainly not something to base a business decision on.

But you do have to be careful, I think both Ford and IBM had some explaining to do when they didn't stand up against the Nazis.

  10. If Brad Pitt or George Clooney, or whoever else girls like put on a similar ad, Obama would win by a landslide.
