I was surprised to find this thread. This topic is pretty hot right now. All I can say is that each new iteration of Unreal Engine is even more impressive than the previous one. I think that in the near future at some point in 25-30 years people will be making their own movies. And we won't need the likes of 123 movies or Netflix and stuff like that. We will only need ourselves and these latest technologies to create a new masterpiece. The technology will be holographic. People will be able to showcase their talents.
And basically all human interaction will be processed holographically. No need to leave where you live to interact with others "physically", unless you want too. I have been saying this for 20 years. But ideas come much easier than the implementation.
When it comes to movies though the technology is still struggling with making realistic humans appear without falling into the uncanny valley. It will probably get there, and its achievements are already incredibly impressive, but there is work to be done yet.
