The French are afraid Look the bottom line is this. There are 2 reasons why the French are a bunch of *edit*. 1.The French have a hugh population of Muslims that have voting privleges. This is the number one reason why they would never back a war on ANY muslim nation. 2. The French are HEAVILY vested in oil ventures with Iraq. They are afraid that if they Saddam losses power then they will lose all that money that they have paid to Iraq. The Russians are also invested. This is the reason why both France and Russia are against a war. They dont want to lose the money. As far as China, they will never back anything we want to do. Click here to read the only story I can find to back this
I am pretty sure it goes farther then that and there is reason #3: 3. Chirac was personally involved in illegal trade activities (WMD) with Saddam. Now Saddam, who has nothing to lose, blackmails Chirac and forces him to go out on a limb opposing USA. If the war does start and we occupy Baghdad, I think we'll be in for lot of interesting revelations regarding Iraqi-French connections.
Iraq denies resuming activities at former nuclear sites Monday, 09-Sep-2002 12:56PM Story from AFP Copyright 2002 by Agence France-Presse (via ClariNet) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AL-TOWEITHEH, IRAQ, 9-SEP-2002: Journalists are shown the destroyed Russian-made Tammuz (Osirak) Iraqi nuclear reactor bombed by Israel during an air raid in 1981 at al-Toweitheh, some 18 miles southeast of Baghdad September 9, 2002. [Photo by Ramzi Haidar, copyright 2002 by AFP and ClariNet] BAGHDAD, Sept 9 (AFP) - Iraq denied Monday it had resumed activities at nuclear sites inspected by UN experts in the past and took journalists on a tour of one of the sites in a bid to refute allegations to the contrary. Reporters were taken to Al-Toweitheh, 30 kilometers (18 miles) southeast of Baghdad, site of the Tammuz (Osirak) Iraqi nuclear reactor bombed out by Israel in 1981. Several buildings on the same site were also demolished by UN arms inspectors before they pulled out of Iraq in December 1998. "These buildings are either new or have been rebuilt but are being used in strictly civilian pursuits for humanitarian or economic purposes," said foreign ministry official Said Hassan al-Mussawi, who showed reporters several buildings. He said the "new or rebuilt" premises house a pharmaceuticals factory, a mushroom farm, and architecture and environmental research offices. The White House voiced concern Friday about the existence of new construction at sites known as Iraqi nuclear research centers and said it would not be surprised if Baghdad had made progress on developing arms. The New York Times reported on the new construction Friday, saying it had been identified as such by UN experts in New York and at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna using images captured by a French commercial satellite. And French arms expert Jacques Baute, who led several IAEA inspections in Iraq, said on Friday satellite pictures showed new construction at several nuclear sites inspected in the past. British Prime Minister Tony Blair said after talks with US President George W. Bush at the US Camp David presidential retreat in Maryland Saturday that evidence pointed to heightened activity at sites known to have been used in Iraq's former nuclear program. The two leaders are seeking to muster international support for US-led military action aimed at overthrowing Iraqi President Saddam Hussein for allegedly developing weapons of mass destruction. Mussawi accused Bush and Blair of "distorting the truth in a bid to extend their hegemony over the region." "This tour aims at revealing the truth and exposing the lies which the US and British governments are trying to peddle in order to justify an aggression against Iraq," he told reporters. A senior official in Iraq's atomic energy organization, Fayez Bayrakdar, told reporters the site housed a "research center ... in which we conduct all kinds of research except in the nuclear sector." Nuclear research is suspended "because all radioactive material is kept under lock in a storehouse by the IAEA." In London, the International Institute of Strategic Studies (IISS) said Monday the development of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons was the "core objective" of the Baghdad regime. But an IAEA spokesman denied in an interview with Dubai-based MBC television late Sunday that the agency had any new evidence about Iraq's pursuit of nuclear weapons since UN inspectors left the country. Monday's visit to Al-Toweitheh was the fifth time in about a month that Iraqi authorities have taken reporters to sites suspected in the West of producing prohibited weapons in a bid to show that they are involved in purely "civilian" pursuits. =========================================== FRANCE FOUND PROOF OF NUKES BEING BUILT UP AGAIN!!!!!!!......THIS INTERNET THING IS GREAT!!
