You really don't get it, do you. The intellect is free to decide whatever it likes. There may be a pre-existing tendency or belief system which would exert pressure on the intellect to decide in a particular manner, but the intellect is always free to decide. The intellect is not animal instinct. The fact that there is a decision process in play is enough form most thinking folks to understand choice... It is like a muscle, most people like you who don't actually use their initellect have an advanced case of atrophy of the intellect....

what i typed in my post, and the act of posting itself, were not REALLY decisions. and also, this has absolutely nothing to do with impulse or instinct.
Gordon, are you a Pink Flyod fan? Smoke alot of weed do you? You're a little off on your 1% estimation of the number of people who consider these things ... (Or smoke weed and listen to Flyod for that matter)
The act was governed by choice, which is governed ultimately by either intellect or instinct. Intellect=choice, instinct=no choice. In your case, me thinks there is not intellect at work...
the determinism i have experienced has led me to not being much of a pink floyd fan at all. lol ..but i do know they have talent. just not my kind of music though..
