Ya, the news is full of reports where they find freezers in homes full of carcases of old people and bank accounts receiving social security money.
GOP news media are reporting this stuff nearly every week.

maybe but i doubt the program is still running on cobol, after y2k probably all payables were moved out of mainframe.

 

a lot of government agencies still use DEC systems that are literally bullet proof.

 

I've seen machines running COBOL in public sector and banking. They don't have to run on mainframes anymore.

I've never done anything with them by the way. Just saw them around.

Essentially people are too afraid to change never ending lines of spaghetti code in COBOL. So they leave them running.

 

"Anti-VAX" RFK jr will probably get rid of them.


But this shouldn't worry anyone, since based on his past behavior with women, he's definitely pro-WANG.

 

i doubt it. dec was out of business for a long time, even compaq was gone. no one would be able to service the hardware.

 

You don't need special hardware. You can run COBOL on PCs.
