Poland wanted to donate their Mig29 jet fighters to Ukraine through US, US just said no. https://www.cnn.com/2022/03/08/politics/poland-jets-ukraine-russia/index.html Ukraine is screwed by everyone.
Seems the market believes it sees the "light at the end of the tunnel" in the Ukraine business. Next up is Fed interest rates, inflation, stagflation, high fuel costs and food issues... but perhaps that's for next week.
Russia already fired a hypersonic missile in their nuclear drill with Belarus before the invasion. Fox News even showed a video of it. A retired US general said, on Fox that the US is behind both Russia and China in hypersonic missile technology. If there is an escalation with threats from NATO including from F-35 fighter jets and Apache helicopters, I doubt Putin would hesitate using hypersonic missiles and enough warhead to damage any target of NATO. US bases in Estonia, Latvia and Poland probably, will be the first targets. That would be to inflict maximum damage and cow the rest of NATO forces from retaliation. If NATO retaliates, we will have World War 3 as Putin will use more tactical nuclear weapons to raise the stakes. Putin is not playing silly games like NATO soy boys Biden, Macron and Johnson are.
Of course the U.S. said no. If we were going to give Ukraine any jets we would give them the best we have, and then wait for WW III to commence. But not old Soviet crap.
I think Russia wants to sit it out because every day inflation in the west gets more out of control, at some point Ukraine will be forced by the west to bow.
Or was THIS the real reason for the march higher? Anyone out there option-savvy enough to disseminate this article, and if it makes sense? https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/whats-really-driving-todays-massive-squeeze-higher P.S. For what it's worth, IMHO this was a severe bear headfake. No matter what CPI number we get tomorrow, market gonna' tank again tomorrow. Algos have goldfish memory.
If this was a short squeeze it began last night when Globex re-opened. Uphill ever since. With Crude and Gold the other direction.
Especially with attitudes like this from the West, yeah: https://www.marketwatch.com/story/p...jets-to-ukraine-01646860635?mod=mw_latestnews This is war!!! You are supposed to be afraid of bullets and missiles, and all they are afraid of is just "reactions"??!! What, Putin frowning?? LOL And of course, Putin, somebody who's from a nation who specializes in war knows that. The thing with war is, the less you want to fight, the more you are gonna have to be forced to fight because otherwise what you will be forced to give up will be a lot more than you think or want because now they know you are a push-over and an easy target. Eventually you will have no choice but to fight, one way or another unless you are planning to give up your whole entire country to Russia, back to be USSR and by that time when you try to fight back, it will take a lot more.
Blinken and NATO idiots first said it was okay for Poland to give the fighter jets to Ukraine. So, Ukraine pilots fly those jets from Poland airspace to Ukrainian airspace and now, that is an act of war. You think Russia will just tolerate it? Chances are good Russia fires a hypersonic missile with nuclear warhead, maybe a small warhead but, enough to inflict 10 times the casualties right now? It attacks US bases housing US troops and advanced fighter jets and apache helicopters. To inflict maximum damage and put the fear into NATO troops against retaliation. If NATO retaliates, Russia fires more hypersonic nuclear missiles to totally, destroy NATO forces in Estonia, Latvia and Poland. Poland was smart enough to say, okay US, we will deliver the fighter jets to Germany. You figure out how you will hand it over to Ukraine.
