Yes, interesting but dangerous. Russia basically said, "We'll do what we want, and if you get in our way you will suffer nuclear retaliation". Maybe that threat is a bluff. Who dares risk calling it? (China could play that same card if it wants...) What does that portend for the future of the world??
Strange chess, make the wrong move just to find out NATO, oops you lost a finger. Don't have to surrender, they can't occupy you anyways. Take that deal, sign a few papers and wait for the money from the west.
It is a bluff. Putin may be insane, but there is a chain of people from him to the actual red button. And at least one of these people is not completely nuts.
What about battle field tactical nukes? Those would be the ones he would use first if anyone wants to join the war against him. Fire a small hypersonic cruise missiles containing a tactical Nuke at any bases that were shooting down Russian jets.
I think that's kind of like Pandora's Box... once you get away with deploying a nuke (even a small one), the door is open to others.

Ukrainians are doing pretty well shooting down Russian jets. And more anti-aircraft systems are arriving into Ukraine daily. From what I see on the ground in Ukraine and what I hear from people who know what they're talking about: 1. Planes do not take ground 2. In order to achieve anything, Russians have to take the cities. 3. They don't have the strength, really, to do that. Russian army has shown itself to be a paper tiger. 4. The Ukrainian fighting spirit is off the charts. This is not just propaganda. It is real. Here: this Russian talk show host (the one on top) is one of the biggest war cheerleaders. Russian Planes and Tanks are trash in comparison to US tech. They don't spend anything like what the US or China spends on defence. They wouldn't last long against the US in a conventional war. Thats why any war between Nato and Russia risks escalating to a Nuclear war pretty quick. Which doesn't end well for either side. 1. Warning shots, eg a Tactical Nuke detonated over an unpopulated area (eg the North sea) 2. Tactical Nuclear Strikes against military bases. 3. Strategic thermonuclear war against civilian population centers.
