I've watched other related videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75ng-6_c-jo It seems that the cause was improper handling of the earth and heavy rain, the concrete poles snapped because of lateral forces, etc. Not poor quality, but poor engineering.
It's a long overdue that China has appreciated and expressed gratitude to the Russians, who in Soviet times had built and transferred to China, for free, billions of dollars worth of factories and technology. Not to mention the high-quality, rock-solid Soviet education system that Chinese children still go through. To clarify and put things into perspective, in 7th grade the Soviet children learned what the Americans start learning in college. I wonder where China would be today if it hadn't received all that help from the Soviets early on. Now it's claiming territorial pretensions over their shared borders. Talk about biting the hand that fed you. Peasants.
