How about IB buys out Buttontrader and uses their front end? You would save a hella of a lot of time and have a finished product integrated into your system in a month or so? Also If your working on the current DOM can you put some performance related features into the finished product. I've been messing around with Buttontrader lately and its pretty good. Thanks. ozzy
ok, getting the feedback from all these posts, here are my issues: 1. Oanda - again very popular, low spreads, no frills softare, but no trailing stops 2. FXDD - low spreads, good feedback, trailing stops, still an option 3. Interactive Brokers - Lot of positive feedback, low spreads, trailing stops, good executions, but software does not offer real time P&L, or position management (bummer), needs a different Front End execution software like Button Trader to manage this. the software position management thing bugs me a bit for IB. Hopefully there will be more front end software out to take care fo this. It's never an easy decision is it.
Hoi, Looks like you have a great front end in Buttontrader. Also, very well done on the IB forex document. I look forward to the January release of the spot forex vs futures article. Regards
I think he points to the "release doc" (see link of a few posts back in this thread). The Final FX-article is planned for ending this month (maybe next). First some extra features for FX-Futures-trading will be added to ButtonTrader.
From a Forex trader who hasn't had access to market depth info, could you kindly elaborate on how that information help you in making trading decisions? Also, does this mean that IB does not provide any type of forex volume data (if it were even possible to do so) and that you need to use futures data for that? Thanks, Kali
IB (nor any other Forex-data-provider) cannot provide traded-volume because that's simply not available in the Forex-market. You can only get Bid/Ask-quantities (and with the ECN-forex versions (like IB) you can get the Book (marketDepth) as well). When you want to have some market-insight in traded-volume you can watch the FX-Futures (like I do in ButtonTrader). This gives me additional information {tape-reading} (in ButtonTrader the marketPressure is measured and showed in the chart, which sometimes shows me clearly where support and resistance is present >> so I can place my target and stop-orders accordingly).
