    Greetings All,

I have to agree with the lady on this one. We here on ET are traders for the most part, and not necessarily long-term investors. And hopefully we are not just sitting there watching our 401K's turn into 001k's. It doesn't much matter who or what is fueling the rally.....The real point of the matter is that....its there for the trading, and the taking.

And even when it turns in the other direction,........we'll trade it that way too! We as a group are likely going to get blamed for any subsequent crash, rather then the FED. So we might as well profit while the profit is there to be had....besides....

Ours is not to make reply,
Ours is not to reason why,
Ours is but to Sell and Buy:
And watch the Signal does not lie,

    Half at Bid
    Half at Bid
    Half at Bid

first off, the rally can go however market participants want. forget low volume. it's low volume because all the buying has been done @ ES 1280-1350. yet this low volume has market breadth and momentum. think about it, QE singlehandedly saved the market. now there's an increased possibility of QE3 in September due to 8.3% unemployment, and the ECB standing by in case Spain and Italy ever request support on their short term debt. there's major central bank catalyst for a rally in the short term even if the fundamentals in the long term are not so rosy. it's low volume because no short will jump in against the central banks.

I think a lot of shorts were sucked in last week by the muted response to Bernanke and Draghi on Wed/Thur, only to get run over on Friday. It seems that the big money waits til the following day to start ramping up the HFT algos. The same thing happened with Operation Twist -- muted reaction on the day of the announcement followed by insane rallying afterward.

so where are we headed now? looks like the major market players are pushing ES up to 1420, but yesterday and today there have been major outflows (bids getting hit) as institutions pare their bets. we could hit 1500 for all we know, just means that there will be people getting burned buying at that level. it doesn't mean we can't reach that level.

As Bonds "Investors dont wanna be in the market any more because they know the game is rigged, day traders are dropping out like flies", that's exactly what we see.
MM keep pushing it up, but investors don't trust it and don't buy into it. Then how will the game play out? You can't keep buying with your own capital and play this game forever, right?
From the chart, I smell a crash ahead, but the crash will most likely happen on individual stocks, just like today's PCLN. Looking at the 40 degree uptrend PCLN had in this year, it killed shorts, but how many of you dare to long it and make money?

Given the rocket rise of the last two weeks, the S+P being down 2 points IS a crash.

  9. I don't see a point in arguing the tape. The higher the rise, the bigger the fall. :D

There's no such thing as a permanent plateau.

Isn't the objective of trading is to make money off price swings regardless of the so called "fundamentals"?
