ThinkorSwim vs IB

Discussion in 'Options' started by Joel Reymont, Jun 4, 2012.

  1. According to my trade history, ThinkorSwim used to charge $1.25 per contract and now charge $10 per ticket plus $0.75 per contract.

IB charges $0.70 per contract but the software is horrendous and I can't stand it.

Is everyone switching from ToS to IB?

IBs software is one of the best around if you use an API, Excel for instance.

Is it about stocks? Or futures and options too?

  4. This is strictly about options.

The ToS options analysis software dominates all others.

Input positions on output analysis manually (sim), execute on IB for cheaper costs.

  6. Are you sure it's $10 + $1.25?
    I still show $1.25/contract.

  7. I asked TD Ameritrade support about the commission schedule that applies to my formerly ToS account.

    Will post the answer.

  8. I'm getting 1.5 per just like before.
Old deal used to be 3 with 40 rebate after x number of trades (don't remember how many) or you could negotiate it down.
If you got 1.25 you did better than me at negotiating, obviously.

  9. I just double-checked and it appears that I started at 1.50 and finished at 1.25. I think I spoke to one of the founders on recommendation of someone else.

I also just checked the Integration FAQ [1] and it appears that the commission schedule did not change as a result of integration.

I think I'll just let my freshly opened IB account languish.
