streetsmart edge will be discontinued as far as I can tell streetsmart edge was nice because it was easy to use. thinkorswim is more robust but it is not as intuitive and takes a little more time to learn (as there are more features)
Robert, I can trade post till 20:00. Pre starts at 6:00. The only limitation is they only accept limit order until a few minute before open or a few minutes after close. They said to prevent clients getting killed from huge bid/ask and low volume.
No routes accept market orders outside regular trading hours. Too much risk of bad fills. Thank you for the response.
Robert, you were wrong. No. It is the other way around. Most after hour trades are limit order only. The only time they allowed me to trade market is one minute prior to market opens at 9:30 ET.
it was a typo, I updated it. No routes “accept”market orders outside regular trading hours. QUOTE="ironchef, post: 5886872, member: 485947"]Robert, you were wrong[/QUOTE]
What ever the case, the Schwab 16:00-16:05 blackout and ending pre-market at 9:25 EST is stupid. They have not fixed it for years, lots can happen.
I got burned a couple of time when I started live day trade 6 weeks ago and now use limit during pre.
The logical approach that Schwab should take is to make clients actively tick yes to trading from 16 PM and likewise from 9:25 AM instead of putting their clients at a disadvantage to clients using other brokers.
