Take a look at the table of contents. Free online. Just scan the chapters that stand out for you. Of those chapters just scan the parts that stand out to you. Give it no more than ten minutes. Decide whether to come back soon. You'll get more out of it in ten minutes of scan than a year on your read list. For all of them, Scan list first then maybe read list. Tempus fugit baby. Carpe diem.

I have heard a lot about this book, and it's definitely on my reading list for this week.

This book is really optimistic as it helps you to have a motivational point of view towards life, if we view this book from a trader’s mindset then it helps you to gain a lot of knowledge in terms of your thinking and broadens the psychology.

  5. About 10 years ago I made a trading system that did trend followin on SPY, using a volatility breakout. I optimized it on 1 year of data and let it run for a few months. It didn't make money.

Then I optimized it on 13 years of data and it did way better, like totally continued the simulated equity curve for the next year of future data. Never did deploy it with any real money, probably because I'm not psychologically ready to take hundreds of thousands of other peoples money.

The lezzon: backtesting is just one more filter you can use to screen a system before going live. But the proof is in the tax returns!

*edit- think I may need to get Tradestation again to see if it made any money over the last 10 years.

  8. If I was rich, I would only be able to associate with other rich people because no one else would be sincere if they knew I could buy their block. I honestly believe I've made myself fail at trading because it is a very lonely and low-prestige profession. No one lights up with a smile when I tell them I'm a trader, but if I say I'm an aerospace engineer working on stuff I'm not allowed to talk about, it's a way different encounter. Likewise, no one wants to know about martial arts (except other fighters) but if I tell John Q I'm just a triathlete, they find me much more likeable. I'm not psycho enough to not need other peoples approval, unfortunately. And if I ever did figure out this trading game, I'd just give all the money away. I'm sure of it.
