Withdrawl wont kill you, though you might want to die, and many many people go into a methadone clinic, lie about how effective its being for them (they still want to get high) and end up dead. Most dangerous time for an addict is probably when they get out of a jail after a few days and the first few weeks on methadone. In any case, this has little to do with the market going up or down.
