    Once they see how stocks go down with no shorts to cover they will rescind this.

    Currently Joe public is using credit cards to replace the money he got from home equity, only a matter of time before he raids the 401K to fill the SUV.

    If you want to short-sell now, better go trade on the French stock market - it's still legal there :)

    Emigrate to a genuinely free capitalist country, like France, where both short-selling and gambling are legal. Whatever you do, don't stay in a socialist command economy like the USA.
