These states would lose House seats under Trump Census order: study

  1. Okay so we keep them here. Then they can be considered felons for invading our country and be denied voting privileges. The only reason the Dems want them in this country is for the votes. There is no way that can not be denied as a fact. As far as adding value to our economy it is thought that a lot of illegal aliens send a lot of their money back to Mexico. As far as the jobs you mentioned, black people can do them. They seem to believe they can not find jobs. Maybe this is one reason why. (I am sure that it is).

I mean really. What is there, 30 million illegal aliens in the USA? My god.

So it's not enough to pay taxes which Is a cornerstone voter argument for the Republican party supporters (over 50% supporting denying votes to people who don't pay taxes). So you're not even a Republican. I'm sure you have a similarly cogent argument for why felons should also have their voting rights stripped.

It sounds like you just don't like people who don't look like you. Good to know. How long have you and your sister been hitched?

No, paying taxes is not enough.

Only Citizens represented in congress should be counted for congressional reapportionment.

Its that whole pesky representative democracy thing.

There is a path to becoming an American citizen. That path does not start with illegal entry to our country.

  4. This presents a very detailed issue with good points raised on both sides.

Imagine a district with a sudden surge in illegal immigrants in an area and they are in high density housing. Over 5 years an area grows in population such that the local school has a large influx in numbers and more funds are required (i.e. school system goes from 3500 kids to 4200 kids in Elem, Middle and HS).

If they can be all counted then the school can get more funds to operate for large class loads. If the argument is that they should not be here, well perhaps but they are not prohibited from being in school so either count them and better serve the school system or write them off and make the school suffer with decreasing funds in increasing population numbers.

Dems and GOP are taking sides on pure political means and do not really care, they have never cared except for what suits their narrative.

But the census raises plenty of social and economic issues on whether you count them or not. They are here and using services and do affect a lot of issues. You either kick them all out and just count citizens or count them all and work on laws/procedures to reduce amount that come in after this census point.

99% of you will argue this based on personal political bias but it is really a detailed economic and social issue that raises a lot of points all around to be addressed.

Trump's move was purely to feed his base and Dems protests were to feed theirs but none of them really care whether they are counted or not. It is regional politics for local government to better handle resources.

The idea of adding more reps to one state and more EC votes and all that is just BS fluff. Could be a valid point but highly unlikley that 10 million illegals or so would shift an entire EC with a population of 325 million people.

Weird how taxation without representation is literally what we fought the revolutionary war over. If people are expected to pay taxes they should have fair say in the comings and goings of the country. Anything less is unconstitutional. Yes, this means at the very least DACA residents (and yes these people are residents who have no home country), felons that have served their time, and Puerto Rico (a territory) should have voting rights.

You're treading precariously close to advocating for disenfranchisement of taxpayers. Be careful.

Paying taxes is a consequence of working in the United States. Paying taxes without representation is a consequence of illegal entry into the United States.

Apportionment of representatives is done according to how many are represented which has nothing to do with anyone other than citizens.

It makes sense for only citizens to have the right to vote. I makes sense to only count citizens for purposes of reapportionment.

Felons are poo-butts who lack the sense necessary for responsible voting. We prevent them from possessing guns as well and for the nearly the same reason.

That's correct. Under your logic, Vladimir Putin could vote if he would just pay taxes here. Nope----only citizens are allowed to vote.

Your position is ridiculous on it's face anyway since half of US citizens pay no federal tax yet are allowed to vote. That's more a case of representation without taxation and is entirely backwards from how this country was founded. --There's actually a strong case that can be made that only citizens who have skin in the game should have the right to vote since the folks who don't pay Fed tax can simply vote themselves money from The Treasury. ----money that isn't theirs.
