Dont forget the other part of the loon script that you get from the DNC: "Immigration is only surging because Biden inherited a broken system." Yeh. You are welcome. I am a giver.
My universe consists of the overwhelmingly information from economic measurements and corporate reporting.
not everything but certainly fueled the COVID recovery to an extent in our country. However a lot of inflation is sourced from overseas. For example, car prices did not explode because of stimulus checks but mostly from chip shortages for example. End of 2020 and beginning of 2021 price came predominantly from logistics costs and fuel surcharges and then product prices begun surging with the demand by 2Q of 2021 (when the shortages really started). If we look just at the U.S. plenty of people are making good money because of a tight job market and wage increases so that is further driving spending as stimulus is gone for now. Money will be cheap for the rest of the year as a few interest rate hikes does little. Whoever wins in 2024 will inherit the recovery phase of this and brag about how they solved it which we will have to hold our noses form the pile of bullshit they will spew.
Larry Kudlow: Regulations from the executive branch are an important cause of higher inflation This is radical, woke, climate change run wild. This is just ideology, not analysis. Holistic, mental and social doesn't even do it enough justice, but here's a final point. These onerous restrictive regulations from the executive branch are an important cause of higher inflation. If done efficiently, infrastructure could over time improve economic productivity, which is counter-inflationary.
I've developed a pretty dim view of both "parties". I once voted republican in a national election, for no reason except they were republicans. Then those republicans started a war on false premise, tanked the housing market and started surveilling US citizens via the Patriot Act. Ouch. There were warning signs.... a DUI, alleged cocaine use and a cushy no-show National Guard pilot slot. I ignored them. For me going forward it is about individual qualities and clear leadership ability. I don't care what party someone is affiliated with. I'll look closely at the men or women running and decide on an individual basis. I've come to believe that there is little difference between the parties. They all seem to want wars where none is necessary. Having an R next to your name no longer guarantees my vote.
I lost my love for any party back in the 1990s and it got worse each cycle. Then internet and cable news truly set it on fire. People here try to label me as one side or the other which is laughable, I rip into both equally. My political heroes are long dead (and most of them were not good people, just brilliant thinkers). and this may insult people here but I find any blind allegiance to a candidate or party to be quite simple minded, no different than a religious fanatic. How could anyone simply get the knee pads out for a person and be blind to all their faults while calling out the other side's faults... It is a sign of the dumbing down of America. We truly have the dumbest most easily brainwashed electorate I have ever seen in my lifetime and that is why we get what we get... from trump to biden... from AOC to Cruz.. George Washington called out the evils of parties and blind allegiance 260 years ago and here we are.
Keeping this going because the consumer changing behavior is a GOOD sign that we might be nearing the peak of inflation… the cure for high prices remains high prices… https://www.cnbc.com/2022/06/07/target-markdowns-plan-to-cut-inventory.html
My only concern is that this is a slow time of the year and even within my shpere, buying is slowing down wiht prices partially to blame. However if demand is dropping and you surge bought inventory in Q1 it makes sense you are seeing such a slowdown... The real test of this market comes in Q3 when retail inventory purchasing starts up again and in Q4 when consumer buying starts up again....
