There's something wrong with human nature.

  1. Thats a flimsy argument. Its like imagine there is a guy that is selling child porn flims but he says "well, i'm only selling them, i'm not actually making them. I havent actually harmed any of those kids"

If you are involved any way in the transaction, you are as guilty as everyone else in the transaction.

I've noticed you, Optional777, have a fixation with Rearden Metal. I know you are also a recovering addict. There is a line that can be drawn from your addiction to your fixation here. It's direct and linear -- there's nothing grey or open to interpretation.

It's not out of a desire to provide assistance toward enlightenment with regards to addiction. Your approach is sadistic -- you take pleasure in attempting to humiliate. This is a mode of sickness. Under the guise of "fixing the addict", you're indulging in the same psychological tick that led you into addiction in the first place. (Freud had a few things to say about the collinearity of sadism and masochism.)

  4. Sorry, couldn't get past the fourth paragraph, which begins with: <i>"In Romancing Opiates, distinguished cultural critic Theodore Dalrymple focuses his attention on one particular drug, heroin..."</i>

That's all I need to know. Praising Dalrymple is no less ignorant than extending warm props to the Flat Earth Society. For those unfamiliar with Dalrymple's 'work', we're talking about a prison doctor (which means the guy is such a douchebag, he couldn't attract patients any other way- prison docs are truly the bottom of the barrel) who has made a career on spouting absurdly ignorant shit to other prohibitionist douchebags.

This is a guy who goes around claiming that junk sickness doesn't even exist- Every single junk sick opiate addict in the history of the world was merely <i><b>faking</b></i> extreme diarrhea, nausea, chills, cramps, sleeplessness, and so on. That just takes ignorance to a whole new level, so I'm not surprised our resident professional troll found the article to be highly informative and enjoyable.

  5. Bullshit.

I was in severe chronic pain for nearly two years, doctors basically said "take some paracetomol", a crappy ibuprofen script, and THATS IT.

Guess what? Ibuprofen didnt work, it was nerve damage not "swelling", paracetomol kills your liver and kidneys, (strange the instructions on the packet dont mention it ) in the kind of dose necessary to actually alleviate chronic , severe pain.

'If symptoms persist, see your doctor."

    Your a fucking idiot.

Shoot yourself, promptly, and stop wasting bandwidth, you fucking monumentally retarded fucking dickwad asshat motherfucker.

Where the FUCK do you get off, "presuming" to know what chronic pain even is, you SPINELESS COWARD.

  6. Wait a second, I have an idea!

Theodore Dalrymple is a renowned crusty old misanthropic, alcoholic, lawful-evil professional troll who delights in making absurd arguments on the off chance that some moron might actually buy into his disgusting campaign of misinformation.

Are you thinking what I'm thinking???
<b>At last, after all these years, ZZZenu777 might finally have an opportunity to make his very first friend</b>! Optional, I know you have no experience with this, but I'm telling you; Having an actual real live human friend to hang out with would be very beneficial to you. Just imagine it! If you can travel to England, and if can just get over the fact that he hates Muslims (I'm unclear on his stance toward pedophilia- but who knows, he could turn out to be a fellow 'enthusiast'), this could be a truly fantastic opportunity for you to greatly enrich your life.

Well, I'm that is cleared up.

With all due respect, how are you different?

You've made the point of attacking the character of the author rather than the content of the article.

You are the one who wants the system to change. Nothing will change attacking the author.

My perspective on the legal status of drug use has long been Marxian. I think the widespread and often irrational prohibition is better explained by class conflict than by the other theoretical approaches. If "opium is the opiate of the people" then it is just a hop to see how the owners would view drug use as "ruining" their workers.

  9. Anyone who makes absurd statements like;

<b><i>"It is a myth (its name is: cold turkey) that withdrawal symptoms of an opiate addiction (i.e. heroin) are virtually unbearable. It is hardly worse than flu"</i></b>

(and that's a direct quote!) ...has completely disqualified themselves from any form of rational debate, and has rendered any and all future statements completely worthless. I'd sooner listen to the opinions of a holocaust denier.

Many of Dalrymple's other observations of inmates re their predispostions and their behaviors are dead-on, so I wouldn't toss him entirely.
