Nothing ridiculous about it. You yourself could measure the CO2 coming out of tailpipes and smokestacks--if you found any, any at all, you'd know that Man is now producing CO2 from fossil fuels, a previously untapped source. Then you could calculate the growth of such emissions over time--then you'd know Man is releasing more CO2 than he did before. Then you could look for Man's signature on the CO2 molecules in the atmosphere and confirm that his CO2 emissions make it "up there". Then you could conclude that Man is making the "glass" thicker, despite, or rather in addition to, the other, ancient forces which also, cyclically, do as well.
shittttt... you are not getting it. please read what I wrote. yes man is creating excess CO2.... but so is the earth -- only some of the excess gets mixed into the glass. so why would it matter if the additional glass is made of man made or earth made co2 or both. It might still have been that thick anyway.
based on historical records it looks like the glass gets thicker as a function of temperature... not the amount of CO2 released. how many times can I say... not all the co2 released gets mixed into the glass...
The "glass gets thicker" IS the increasing CO2, caused by solar and orbital cycles. Doesn't need to be "all" to have an effect. http://www.skepticalscience.com/co2-lags-temperature.htm (Check the chart, your favorite chart, again. CO2 over the long haul tops out around 290-300 ppm. Where is it today? What's the trend?) But before the industrial revolution, that CO2 release came from ordinary carbon sinks, the oceans and vegetation being two. Man is now releasing/creating CO2 from deep, previously unaffected sinks, oil, gas, coal.
That is what I have been telling you. There is no evidence co2 is causing the warming... but we see in the ice core evidence is that warming precedes the accumulation of CO2. and cooling precedes the CO2 dissipation. Man made co2 may have nothing to do with the cause of the accumulation or dissipation. (other than the fact it is is accumulated.) For instance I had a pool which vented out the overflow... did I care if the water came from the sky or my well?
Jem, you should stop this nonsense now. I does not reflect well on your own intelligence. It is well known that Barack Obama had a superior education from his early childhood on. Of all the U.S. Presidents so far, Obama is not only one of the best educated, but he also has one of the most extensive records as a scholar. He graduated from Columbia University in political science, and from the Harvard Law School magna cum laude, which is impossible if your grades are not outstanding. He was first an editor at the Harvard Law Review, and later elected to head the Review. He was a lecturer in Constitutional Law at the University of Chicago for twelve years. Please do not clutter these forums with any more crap.
