I'd say the people who refer to America as 'Murica are the ones to who need to get out of the country more to see what a shithole the rest of the world is.

Michael Lewis talks about how the whole country is preoccupied with feces. He gives several examples in his book. I've never found Germans to be a particularly creative people

Again, you've spend a grand total of how much time in Germany? I find the 'Murican types have such strong views of the rest of the world but most have never even left their little corner of country, let alone spent enough time in another country to form a fact-based opinion. That's sad, because in most cases I think their prejudices and stereotypes wouldn't survive contact with reality.

Never been there, but I've worked with several Germans. They are just lacking in a certain sense of humor, and they see things very analytically. Most of their leaders reflect the same. The Eastern European people I know tend to be dismissive of the Germans as well.I'm sure its a nice place, but I wouldn't want to live there. I just wouldn't fit in.

He was way funnier in the toilet scene from Dumb and Dumbe. Now he's just a cranky old man. Hollywood propaganda designed to make you feel guilty about being an American.

Apparently the Germans have sort of a bad reputation for some stuff that went down a few years back.

  9. 1. we can speak our minds in the US, for the most part, that's great

    2. we make the best/greatest movies in the world,
although, we also spend the most money making them...

    3. i like the fact that, we're constantly trying to make things better,
although that's probably true for many countries...

i'm very happy living in the USA, but i haven't traveled that much
    [Canada is gorgeous]

if someone is really happy where the're living, that's [great] enough, isn't it?

    i'm suspicious of Jingoism

I've worked with several Americans who fit that same profile. In fact I'm an American who sees things very analytically, as probably most people on this forum do as well!
