Oh I am not saying Jacksonville is the same as NYC. My point is crime is up all over the country and NYC seems bad when you post examples of some horrible crimes but the crime rate is not relatively high compared to many other populations per 100,000. Shit got bad the past two years but the overall trend was really good. I am hoping the recent craziness returns to "normal" whatever normal means. Also a lot of crime is in many bad neighborhoods just like in D.C. the worst crime is in Anacostia or parts of NE which are not close to the main tourist parts. NYC has 8 million people, Brooklyn alone has over 2 million and would the country's 4th or 5th largest city if it wsa not a boro. Lot of people on top of each other so the homeless and crime is more concetrated. I was in NYC last week and it is still way too crowded and unclean for me to ever consider living in. Most people don't look happy either walking around. Everyone walks at a NY pace. As someone born and raised in the city I revert back to it a bit when I walk there. I still prefer many foreign cities to NYC and downtown Chicago is so much prettier than NYC. Only thing NYC does have is it is always open and there is something within 4 blocks of you. Also the new High Line park and Chelsea area and new World Trade Center area you almost forget you are in NYC. Then you go back on the subway and are reminded of somethings. I spoke with some police officers and they are heavily understaffed like everyone else.
The gov is a t**t https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11105809/New-York-scraps-word-inmate-state-law.html
With NYPDs history of brutality and violations of citizens constitutional rights,no surprise that is the result.
I'm going to have to disagree, Tony. The way I see it, the vast preponderance of NYC police officers are good and just, and keep citizens safe. Remember that movie Escape from NY? Remove the police force and lets see what happens.
