  1. Wow...you got me there! Oh wait...I dont know any religious people that have sacrificed a witch in the last few hundred years...do you? I do know that there are more than a few atheists that have sacrificed humans for whatever their agenda was just a few decades ago.

You are talking about the salem witch trials I'm guessing where they killed how many people accused of witchcraft? 20? 30?

How many people have atheists killed in the last 60 or 70 years? 50 million by Mao? 2 million by Pol Pot?

Please do me a favor and show me one atheist country where people were happy, prospering , generous and dedicated to the growth of mankind?

  2. Letting homosexuals corrupt your children into hating God and then having your children thrown into hell to burn forever is more acceptable than NOT letting a gay couple get married? is that what YOU are saying?

  3. A gay couple lives on my street. They keep to themselves, are family oriented, and always eager to help out any neighbor. Further down the street, there is a hetero couple, and when the husband gets drunk, you hear the wife scream obscenities and the cops come and visit. (By the way, the gay couple often vote Republican - they tell me they are log cabin Repubs... and they're Christian - I've had a debate with them about religion once.) That's Irony.

Humanity is not so easily stereotyped.

And by the way.... hell is a human creation. It was created only recently in human history to keep people well behaved.

  4. I'm not saying that at all. Both theories are difficult to grasp. But you cannot fault the Big Bang Theory for creating something from nothing when creationism essentially says the same thing.

  5. you would worship a god that would throw your own children into hell? how sick is that?
i often say the biggest danger from religion is what it does to the mind of the believer.

  6. First, I have no idea what an atheist country is. Please define...

Second, why are you arguing who killed more people atheists or religious folk? It is an excercise in futility. I brought up the witch trials to counter your argument that atheists are immoral. Surely you agree that the burning of humans by religious people is immoral. The reason for me bringing that up is to emphasize that morals have nothing at all to do with religion.

    stu

Heaven with peilthetraveler in it would surely be hell.

There is a logical route from religion to the committing of atrocities. To believe by God you are doing a righteous act in killing, you are a good person, you are following your religious morality.

There is no such route from atheism or secularism.

btw... Pol Pot left home to attend a Catholic school in 1935.
Hitler was Christian, so were most of the 18million people in Germany who served one way or another in his armies.

  9. It seems to me that religion is required for those that can't live a moral life without the carrot and stick of heaven and hell to motivate them.

That's why I find it so interesting that so many religious types can't seem to dis-entwine their religion and their morality. It's as if the only reason they act "good" is because (a person claiming to represent) God told them to.

  10. Religious disputes are among the meanest and nastiest of them all. I grew up listening to arguments such as this. Guess what?
    You are wasting your time.
