Just to make the point again.... the current situation in Hong Kong today is governed by the 1985 Sino-British joint declaration it is not governed in any manner by a lease. The U.K. is allowing Hong Kong residents to enter the U.K. because China violated the terms of the 1985 Sino-British joint declaration; not because China violated a lease.
You really are an igit. You said they "gave" HK to China. They negotiated the agreement with the stick of refusing honor the lease end and shit getting messy.
The declaration was forced into being because the lease was running out.....rather than just give back part of the territories and separate out parts of Hong Kong area, Britian decided to give it all back. Needless to say that the British were quite racist to the locals who were born and raised there and ethnically were of that land rather than colonial overloads. It ranks up there with South Africa as a way long overdue vestige of colonialism that the effects still linger....
