Maybe in 5000 years from today what you believe of god will change, but have similar parts of your story. And the new story will say your story was false god.
of course they work. they were manufactured to work while anything that didnt fit was censored and those that believed it were killed. if you went to a secular college and actually studied the history of the bible and still consider it truth i have to wonder about your college. even most religious scholars have concede that most of the bible is mythical.
The Christian god is a false god. There is a god, but it's not the Christian god, nor is it the Muslim god. My god is the one True God. You were not born with sin. This is something you have been told as a child and it is unfortunate that you have not been shown the light of truth. The sooner you realize this, the better. You can still save your everlasting soul and ascend to the Kingdom of Heshera. Accept Ematineph into your life and she will give you peace and comfort the likes of which you have never dreamed of. If you fail to accept Eminateph as your personal God and Saviour, you will burn forever.
There is only one true God. Seek and you shall find. Do not be swayed by stories of mortal men 'sending their sons to die for your sins'. These are false gods.
Yea, I know what you mean; I really questioned those religion professors that I had; especially those that taught the "higher criticism" format. Those religious scholars you refer to are far outnumbered by people who live today and have a strong relationship with Jesus Christ. You know, we can go on all day long with this, but it really gets down to a personal choice. If you're good with what you believe, then that is your prerogative; just make sure you are making the right decision. Even if you consider it a 50-50 chance, it is too big of a chance to take when choosing where you will spend eternity. You might want to check out the books Lee Stroble wrote" The Case for Christ" and "The Case for a Creator". He was a journalist who was educated at Yale Law School and became an editor for the Chicago Tribune. Being a a spiritual skeptic, he set out to disprove the claims about Jesus Christ. The evidence he found lead him to the verdict that Jesus is God's unique Son.
