1. A 4 year college degree gives you only the very basics of what you need to get a typical job, similar to a high school diploma was in the 1950s. 2. Very few of us, even those with highly technical trainings, rarely, over a lifetime, used or got employments that were exactly compatible with the trainings we received. So, a college degree's most important function is to teach you lifelong learning skills. 3. What are not taught sometimes are more important than taught. I don't mean relationships. I am referred to initiatives, drives, innovations, hard work... 4. Unless you came out of ivy league schools, even 20-30 years ago, most of us started in very modest jobs and worked our way up.
