I havent really changed to much, mainly work a 5 full fat tick stop. The one thing i have really changed is i am adding a lot more aggressively to winning trades to take the most that i can out of it and constantly re adjusting the stop along the way to lock in profit
Interesting concept. But what is the incentive of traders to share their trades and pay 150GBP to do it?
Just to clarify do you use 5 ticks or 5 points? Not sure how you can trade with 5 ticks in this market, the spread these days jumps from 3 to 7 ticks easily all the time.
i use 5 full fat tick stop or if you look at it in half ticks then its a ten half tick stop. And yes you are right about the spread but im strict on my execution. And even after losses as i said when i think i am on a good winning tade then i will aggressively added to it, and i find this makes up for losers from the tight stop
The reason why I asked about tick is that DAX moves in 0.5 increments that are called ticks, which I am sure you know about. So, when you say 5 full ticks, I was a bit curious. I assume you meant 5 full points (10 ticks), and in this case it is more than adequate for short term trading even on days like these, that is if one knows what he is doing of course.
I dont really get what you are trying to get at as what i said is exactly right. Maybe in america you call it differently But in the uk when we talk about trading something that trades in 0.5 increments that is called a half tick movement and then after that its moved a full tick no one uses the word point maybe its an american thing. So like i have said and il say it for the 3rd time i trade a full 5 tick stop or if you want to count half ticks as a tick its a ten tick stop. But in england its very rare that people refer to a 0.5 increment in the dax as a tick, its mainly called a half tick, im sure it was just a misunderstanding of terminology on both our halves. Also if you look at eurex the dax is listed at 25 euros a tick (full fat tick not 0.5) if it was as you said and half ticks included then they would list it as 12.50 euros a tick
Yep, now it makes sense. We just call them differently. It is interesting to know this. No one here calls it 1/2 tick. For example, S&P e-mini moves in .25 increments, and when someone says it moved 1 point it is the same is saying 4 ticks. This kind of SL in DAX is absolutely fine for short term day trading, this is actually what I use myself, usually I use 4 points, but these days I use 5. By the way, what size you trade in these insane markets?
yeah that is different see in the mini s&p we would call a .25 movement a quater tick lol in these markets right now my clip size is 5 lots. How about yourself ?
You are more braver than me. I reduced my size down to 2. The way I trade is all in and all out. The moves these days are so big that even with 2 cars yield enough profit.
Red-Duke...I just began looking at the DAX again since months ago and I noticed this same thing...what is going on?...it use to be about .5 to 1.5 spread with 1.5 spread being LARGE at that time (2-4 months ago)...what has happened?...I've noticed that the daily volume is still good but????thanks!
