Hi, does anyone here trade in the pre-market hour before the DAX opens?

    Just curious :)

The volume and range are usually not worthwhile to trade the first hour.

When Eurex originally introduced opening 1 hour earlier few year back, I was a bit worried about missing good opportunities (I live in NY and my wake up call is at 2:40am), but nothing much happens during this hour, and the index stopped being very erratic during first few min after cash opens.

Wow, you are a night owl huh? :p

Do you trade the US markets when they open, or just purely the eurex?

    Cheers.

I wish I was an owl. It is just, I want to trade more than I want to sleep. I only trade Eurex (DAX) for now. I am accumulating grab stake for full time trading. I usually trade it for 2-4 hours after cash opens, most of the time just first 2 hours.

We have something in common in that we trade the first few hours after the markets open.

I also trade the dax, but for one more hour (3 hours).

What kind of methodology do you follow if I may ask?
I consider myself a short term trend follower.

    Cheers

i risk allot on the dax win about 50% and manage to win much bigger than i lose about 2 to 1. i buy and sell on levels intraday one minute data which are filtered by the observance of daily data patterns.

on the es i do just the opposite - i trade high percent wins - large loses and smaller gains - counter trend entries - fading moves etc.

Most of my trades are a wash (few ticks winners and losers). The small part of trades are large winners. I have very tight SL, since large one really mess up my psychology. I have many trades every day, and NEVER leave any open positions.

I trade of constant volume charts and rely on DOM as filter.

I settled on 144. If someone asks, but will it work on 134 or 154, the answer is yes. I picked this number for the charts to be fast enough for my trading style, but to also give enough time to enter the trades.

  10. thought i would say hi, i trade the dax scalping it, normally trade up to the american open.

Im a quick scalper average trade is normally ten to twenty seconds, sometimes a tad bit more.
I work very tight stop losses as if you dont it can just run away from you but as im building my trading size up im having to widen my stop a little.

Mainly trade off price action and mp looking at whats going through, where the main levels are and where they buyers and sellers are coming in.

chart wise mostly i keep tick,1min and 5min of the dax all with volume undeneath and then a few charts of other indices ie ftse, eurostoxx, s&p. I find oil is another good one to keep an eye on aswell especially over the oil inventories you can make some good money off the dax.

Anyway il stop going on but thought i would give a bit of info on what i look at
