The Ultimate DAX Scalping Discussion Thread!

Discussion in 'Index Futures' started by Scientist, Dec 28, 2003.

  1. For a long time now I've noticed the big DAX flipper. He dominates the order book and most every scalper dances to his tune. Today, I'm going to tell you all exactly what he does and how he makes his money.

Contrary to what you may think, he is not a fighter and actually has very low risk tolerance. He will only make a stand around a level and is always mindful of the relative strength or weakness of the market.

In essence, he is playing the man as much as the market. He knows that if most of the scalpers are short on a low and the market fails to break lower he has a great opportunity to squeeze all the shorts into covering their position. So initially he will be short with the market and will have heavy offers the whole way down. Then when he senses that the market will not break lower he deletes his phoney offers and rams the market back up, thereby causing all other shorts to cover into his offers way up the book. Nice.

He is happy to trade up to a few hundred contracts and more if neccessary. He knows that if he has to puke and there are no DAX contracts he can hedge himself in the very liquid Eurostoxx 50 market.

Dont be a sucker. Dont always buy highs and sell lows. Try fading some moves. The reason why 95% of people fail at the scalping game is because of always looking for that breakout trade. You will reap far more rewards by doing the counter-intuitive.

Dont let the DAX flipper sucker you......

  3. Hello to All!:)

I trade Dax-30 futures for 4 year. Now I trade via Gni and pay GBP400 for J-trader(1 exchange) and 4Euro/rt if <250 rounds/month and 2,5Euro if >=250<500 rounds/month...(all fees included). One my friend from London whose company is IB of ADM recommended to trade throw his company and use EasyTrader instead of J-trader(which is no cost per month) with commission 3,8Euro/rt if <250rounds/month (all incl)....
I found paying for J-trader GBP400 is expensive and it is the biggest my cost in month(i-net+ReutersCobra+share of office all are less then J-trader/month).

1)Do anybody know about "Easytrader" platform?(plus/minus)
2)Do anybody work with some IB of ADM?(plus/minus)

    Thank you in advance.

I can't answer your questions, but did you ever have a look at InteractiveBrokers and their unbundled fee plan?

See attached screenshot: up to 250 round-turns per month you will pay 3,58€ per round-turn. Up to 500 round-turns per month you will pay 3,40€ per round-turn.

There is no platform fee charged.

If you want to pay max 2,50€ you have to trade a little bit more......
    :D

As to the broker: there are lots of discussions here, just do a search.

  7. I am new to Elite Trader forums and am interested in discussions on trading the Dax and market conditions etc that go in hand with it. I have noticed that the forums are full of crap from people with nothing better to do. Is this the norm for this group of forums or is it school holidays at the moment and things will get back in order once they have less time on there hands ?

Is there any other threads that are worth the read on a regualr basis. I am a Theta Trader who writes options in low risk and waits for time decay to do its thing and either let them expire or buy back at cheaper rates.

Who are the main players in this thread ?

  8. Hi ThetaTrader,

You could either read the entire thread and write down the names of those that seem to know what they are talking about when it comes to Eurex DAX so that you can contact them later by email or private message...

Or you could start your own Eurex DAX thread to see who shows up.

Another option is start a daily journal thread on the DAX with either your daily trades or daily observations and then have the moderator police out the off topic discussions so that the thread can continue in the direction you want it to go.

Another option is to use ET search menu in the upper right corner of this website...

    http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/search.php?s=

You should be able to find most of the post by DAX traders via key words like Eurex DAX or the word DAX itself.

Yet another option is to use Google search engine to find the other DAX discussion forums because ET isn't the only talk in town.

  9. Hey Guys..

Purley new in this elite trader forum. really like the stuff. I been trading dax for the last 3 months not actively. But still trading just one contract. I have a weird question to ask, if any one can help, would totally apprecaite it. I wana know suppose if i choose to trade lets say mutliple contracts at a time, like 5-10 contracts over Dax, would that be hard to trade at or its doable?Asking this cos not sure how would be the fills be like. I mean is it liquiad enuff to let me trade so many contracts? I have tried doing it on ES and its no problem there.

I use one mint on dax and thats the only time frame i look at and i am a scapler. Average daily 20-25 trades and aim for 7-9 points. Small player but just getting started i guess. I am sure there are many smart ppl here who cashing out tons!

    Thanks
    Cheers! :)

  10. Five contracts is not a problems and ten shouldn't be either.

In a market that is moving against you it might cost you a couple extra ticks on a few contracts of a 10 if you get out at the market.

You will also find that in slower markets if you offer 10 or more at a price you will get partal fill about half of the time.

In the grand scheme of things, it shouldn'e effect your trading much.
